I'm grateful that there is so much discussion about Rosetta Stone. I have toyed with the idea of purchasing the program, and now, I think I'll go another route. It seems that I will get as much or as little from Rosetta Stone, or any other program, as I put into it/them. I'll try the library to see how I fare with the language series they offer, and go from there.

I took a little tour of the site and it seems ok. I'd like to gain full access though. Is there any way to get a small class started, or do we have to be with a college, or other institution?

The ways to learn languages are varied, and the best ways to learn are closely tied to what the learning style of the language learner is. Immersion, if possible, is one of The Best ways to acquire a new language. The need to communicate tunes one in at a unique level that is not possible in other venues. Daily practice with the language, in written, and auditory forms helps tremendously if immersion is not an option.
