  1. If you are like me and something like spotify to listen to music while working, you should consider switching to some german online radio, it is a great way to train your ear and listen to a lot of german. The two main things that are going to be useful are the news and advertisements. If you live in the east coast you can maybe catch the evening news or something while you are still working. Some radios also have late night shows where people call in. And you know what? in some of these stations the music is very very good and the rate of ads vs music is much more reasonable than what you find in the US, yet in this case you actually want to hear the ads! This is also a great way to listen to some actual german music and singers, maybe finding something that suits your taste. The news are complex but if you are a well informed person that knows what's going on in the world you may catch yourself understanding something out of the context because they are talking about things that you already know.
  2. There is one funny course that you can take online at the Deutsche Welle site, it is called "Deutsch, warum nicht?", why not indeed... It is very funny because it is ancient (they still talk about Marks instead of Euros), but also because the characters are funny. You will understand what I mean once you hear it. The thing is like an audio drama that tells a story. Each lesson has a PDF that you can download along with some exercises. It gets quite complex. You should give it a try but only if you are willing to do the exercises for every lesson, otherwise I guess it is only good for training your ear. I don't know if I am allowed to post links but you can find it pretty easily by doing a simple google search, the lessons are available in podcast format, it is 4 series of 26 or so lessons so you could do one daily, I was doing two at a time at one point. Give it a try.
También sirve: "Quisiera fortalecer" (I would like to) Realmente me impresiona tu vocabulario. Don't worry too much about "tildes", native speakers barely use them unless they are writing more formal letters or they are in a work or school setting.
  4. Ciao!, Con gusto.

    Hola

Hello everybody! Let me introduce myself, my name is Jon and I am very interested in languages. I spent a gear as a kid in Germany and I was able to speak fluid german at a point, sadly, I never spoke it again once we came back, this was before the internet so there was no way for me to practice anymore so, I kind of lost it. I am fluent in Spanish, native speaker level of fluency. I also know grammatical rules very well and I am familiar with all different variants and idioms, from all the different Latin American ones to the one from Spain proper. I am of Italian descent so I also understand a little italian, I am now torn between learning italian or "re learning" german, time will tell. Cheers!
