SoBizarre
Hi,Could somebody help me please with this German phrase, which comes from an audiobook? Here's the link:I would really appreciate your help.Cheers,SB
linguaholic
Hey SoBizarreI just listened to the audio file. The person in the Audio File is saying "Des isch(t) gut". This actually means"This is good" in English. It is not standard high german, therefore it is not very easy to understand. In standard high german this sentence would need to be "Das ist gut". Hope that helps. If you need help with different audio files, let me know. I will be glad to help.regardslingua
SoBizarre
Thank you very much for your help, linguaholic. Now it finally makes a perfect sense. The story (fantasy by Polish author A. Sapkowski) takes place in Silesia, during Hussite Wars, so that explains the archaism. Thanks again,SB
