SilentEcho456 Posted May 1 Report Posted May 1 Hey folks! Is it just me, or is it getting way too humid in here? I tried to kick on the central air for the first time this season yesterday, and it’s been a total disaster. The outdoor unit is spinning and making noise, but the air coming out of the vents is basically room temperature. My house feels like a sauna, and my poor bulldog is panting like crazy. I’m really looking for a local recommendation because I’m tired of these "big name" companies that charge $150 just to park their truck in your driveway. I’ve had bad experiences where they immediately try to sell me a brand-new AC unit for 6 grand instead of just checking if it needs a simple recharge or a new capacitor. Does anyone know a technician in Whitby who is actually honest and won't try to pull a fast one on me? I just want someone who will fix what’s broken and give me a fair price. Any leads? Quote
EchoSphere Posted May 1 Report Posted May 1 Man, I feel your pain. There is nothing worse than that sticky humidity when your AC decides to quit. We had a similar nightmare last summer right before a huge backyard BBQ party. I was panicking! I ended up calling the guys who do hvac repair Whitby http://superiorhvacservice.ca/whitby/ and I honestly have to say they were a total lifesaver. The tech they sent was super chill and professional. He actually showed me that the contactor was burnt out and the coils were just incredibly filthy from cottonwood seeds. He cleaned everything up, replaced the part, and checked the coolant levels all in about an hour. He even gave me some tips on how to keep the unit clean so it runs more efficiently and saves me money on the hydro bill. What I appreciated most was that he was very upfront about the cost before he started. No "hidden fees" or sales pressure. They’re local, they know their stuff, and they don't treat you like a walking wallet. Definitely give them a shout before the real heatwaves hit! Quote
SilentEcho456 Posted May 1 Author Report Posted May 1 Huge thanks for the tip! If they can save me from this humidity without breaking the bank, I’ll be a happy man. Calling them now! Quote
