Kimi01
How would I say "Many roads have been modified by the government"? Also, can someone clarify what tense that is exactly? I'm getting very lost. Thanks in advance for your help. Tom
BabelGoldFish
That's the present perfect, I believe, and it's already in the passive form. Do you need help forming the active out of the passive? (The government has modified many roads)
darkchild
@BabelGoldFish got it perfectly right. Provide more information if you need more help.
reverserewind
There are several reasons why this tense is used. One of them is making focus on a certain object. In this case, it's roads, not the government. However, If we were talking as If we were willing to praise the government for its deeds, we would have used the "active" version of that sentence.
