  2. I'm not familiar with ancient languages as such but I would like to take one in the Chinese/Japanese line. I fancy the way they speak in those very old movies and it would be thrilling to embark on it.
  3. It is always best to know the culture behind a language; it helps one appreciate the language more. I understand what it feels like to speak a language someone has known all their life, caution is always used when communicating. But I guess that is just the beginning, you will improve with time.

  13. I think the accent comes with the language sometimes; not always deliberate but others prefer to fake it to get into the language.

  15. In my opinion, I think it is a great idea. Interaction and communication motivates a person learn something new.

  17. Carrying a dictionary around for me did not work. I did this in Cote d'Ivoire years back, the locals were just staring at me in a funny way, I had to ditch the dictionary and use the basic French I knew how to speak. It could work for others but I don't think I would try it again.

  21. I think it depends on the type of game. If it is an educational game then I think it would go a long way in assisting in language learning but otherwise could be limited.
  22. I have had a similar experience as well. Mine was at Primary school (Grade school) where we were mandated to learn Hausa Language and the teacher would just come in speaking for 20 minutes in Hausa Language. I was always lost and barely scaled through. Not all language teachers are good at their jobs. Others use skillful techniques in helping struggling students learn the language with minimal memory usage.
