  1. Hello Adrian, It's nice to have you here. Most languages are beautiful, just make a choice and start learning. Get involved, it's real fun here.
  2. Hello Pedro, Thanks for sharing your channel with us. You will find people here with similar interest as yours. All the best in your quest.
  3. Hi, welcome! That was a really lengthy intro and I'm sure you will fit in perfectly here.
  4. Talking to yourself actually makes you discover who you are from what others see. It is always best to start using a mirror and then sometimes you find out you even argue with yourself and using it with language learning may sound silly but with time you become a pro and can confidently communicate with others.
  5. I love challenges. I signed up for French and looking forward to it. Thanks for sharing.
  6. People learn languages in different ways; so if it through songs then it will be great.
  7. Hi and Welcome! It's great to have you here. Thanks for sharing your service with us, I bet some Spanish learners will find that rewarding.
  8. If the pay is super good, it would highly motivate me to put all things aside to learn a language. The key word here is motivation; if you are motivated by a huge trophy at the end of the race, then the race is worth taking.
  9. I have always been surrounded by English speaking children but their programs on TV like Dora the Explorer helps me learn a few phrases in Spanish. There is also this French DVD for children my sister gave to my son; it helped me learn a few words in French. So I believe children help language learning.
  10. To be honest, nothing motivates me to learn languages. Apart from the fact that my present schedule is tight, I do not feel compelled to move forward and have not set a deadline for myself. I guess when I do, I would make progress.
  11. I believe whatever you start early as a child grows with you naturally. The problem with some curriculum planners is that they do not think it is more difficult to learn languages as an adult. I would have preferred at least three foreign languages inculcated at an earlier age and then the advanced taken up at higher classes.
  12. That is really a cool way to learn a language. I think whatever you have passion for, if you merge it with the target language, it could just be as exciting as life itself. Thanks for sharing!
  13. I use YouTube videos and intend to use flash cards. I think I should dedicate some time to learning Arabic; it's just that there is little or no spare time between work and courses.
  14. I am learning Arabic because I live in Dubai presently and I want to understand when they speak. It is so frustrating because I am a slow learner and most jobs I want do require Arabic speakers. I guess that is the reason I am learning Arabic; if I am ever successful
  15. Have you ever or are you planning to name a child or pet of yours a foreign name that is not in English or your language because it has a cool meaning attached to it? It is something I would do; considering the meaning is worthwhile. What is your opinion?
  16. It sounds like a true love story to marry someone you don't speak the same language but I guess it only happens in the movies. Reality Check! Consider family and friends and their input and confusion with the wedding and stuff; then comes the marriage; it would be difficult to understand each other except with patience and genuine love, then it could work.
  17. Hi Franc! What language(s) do you intend learning? Let us know by discussing your approach, goals and achievements so far. Great to have you here
  18. Hi Laura and welcome, I admire your passion to learn many languages; I think you will achieve them all if you work towards it. Wishing you well.
  19. I believe there are a number of French speakers here. Hang around and get connected; it takes sometime for some to respond due to busy schedules and all.
  20. The hardest part for me is retaining and recalling what I have learnt. I used to give the excuse that I wasn't a child anymore but I have people older than I am who are still learning languages. I intend to make use of flash cards which I know help with retaining knowledge.
  21. I do agree with @AExAVF there is no shortest possible time to learn a language. Most institutions and softwares just use the catch phrase to attract more learners and use it as a marketing strategy. I believe it all depends on the individual and the eagerness and willingness to learn fast enough.
  22. Yes, most of us here are familiar with Duolingo. It's great to know it is serving you well on your language learning journey. Let us know how it goes in the long run.
  23. Hello Amanda! I like your passion for language learning and would like to encourage you on achieving your language goals. Stay focused and remember persistence pays
  24. Hello Kavita! Welcome to the forum. Hope to see you interact on your language goals and challenges. Great to have you on board!
  25. This is a brilliant question and topic of discussion. But to be honest, when I dream, I do communicate but I have never noticed in what language because I believe language in dreams is like mind-reading. I doubt if I use a particular language because I presently speak two languages and I dream every time I fall asleep but the language is not defined.
