What do these phrases mean in English?

1) Les carottes sont cuites

2) Ca ne casse pas trois pattes a un canard

1) it means that "there is nothing you can do anymore" (in some situation for instance)

2) it means: "he’s not that great/special, he’s nothing to write home about"
