  1. I know some very basic sign language, mostly what I used to communicate with my daughter when she was a baby. I don't think I would ever be able to understand a converstation though, but I do love to watch it!
  2. I chose French origionally over Spanish in high school because I LOATHED the Spanish teacher. Even though Spanish would have been much, much more relevant in my life! I continue to study it now ( as well as Spanish) for my own personal enjoyment. I appreciate it and continue to find it a beautiful language.
  3. This makes me feel like quite the novice, but I never really considered reading some of my favorite books in another language :wacky: I do, however think it is a fantastic idea as you would have a general idea, at least, of the book and what may be happening to help with translation and understanding.
  4. In my experience, Google translate is pretty awful at trying to translate ANY language I have tested it most with French and Spanish and it has almost every time come up short. It is not authentic nor conversational language... but, how could it be, really? Words are not always translated meaning for meaning and word for word between languages so it would take a fairly sophisticated program to produce that.
  5. Following as I have yet to hear of someone who has found more benefit with Rosetta Stone vs other cheaper and even free products/ podcasts/ apps that are available. I would love to hear from someone who has experienced using both!
  6. Absolutely. I live in mid-western North America, and if there is one language I would recommend knowing it would be Spanish, followed closely by Hmong.
