I think it is smart to learn languages through music. It is even better if it is a music video...you can look at the subtitles. I learned French by listening to songs .

Linguisitically Speaking, Are Americans Arrogant?
leahcim132 replied to cinderr's topic in Language Learning
I would say they are, but a minority of them. This can go with most people though. Canadians can be arrogant. Chinese can be arrogant. But there is always some who are more humble . -

leahcim132 replied to ashishkashyap25's topic in English Language | Discussion
The only way to improve reading speed is to read more. Every time you get the chance to read, do it! Some of the posts above suggests you to read books about how to read faster. You can do that too. -

Why did you choose to learn Japanese?
leahcim132 replied to tulosai's topic in Japanese Language | Discussion
My aunt is Japanese and I was amazed when she talked in Japanese. It seemed so cool...so I decided to learn Japanese! Love it and is somewhat fluent in Japanese. I am better at understanding what people are saying in Japanese than talking and writing. -
Correct grammar is very important to me. I think it is important because it is part of the English language. With poor grammar, it can change the meaning of the sentence.

Favorite Books to read in English
leahcim132 replied to tulosai's topic in English Language | Discussion
I like reading comic books . If that counts as a book. Comic books are a great way to learn the language because you have pictures! The picture show you what kind of expression you should say that sentence/word. -

Have You Studied the Works of Shakespeare?
leahcim132 replied to LauraM's topic in English Language | Discussion
Yes, I have studied the works of Shakespeare all throughout high school. To be honest, I found them boring early in my high school career. However, I started to enjoy it more in the later years of high school. You can learn a lot from reading the works of Shakespeare . -

Did you have a pen pal in your foreign language class?
leahcim132 replied to sayitwell's topic in Language Learning
Yes, we did. I was in French class and we had pen pals from Burkina Faso. This was during French and we would practice writing in French to our pen pals. They would write back in French and we would have to reply to them. It was pretty fun . Unfortunately, my pen pal doesn't have an e-mail so we couldn't keep in touch . -

Why Spanish is a Language worth learning?
leahcim132 replied to betita03's topic in Spanish Language | Discussion
Spanish is worth learning because it is the second most spoken language in the world. In my experience of learning Spanish, I found it very similar to French (well of course the pronunciations are different but verbs, etc... are similar). I only know very little so off to studying Spanish for me! -

Here is my favourite quote: "Tell people there’s an invisible man in the sky who created the universe, and the vast majority believe you. Tell them the paint is wet, and they have to touch it to be sure." -George Carlin I think this quote is very true. Words are very powerful!
