  1. I've been told that immersion into the language and culture is the best way to learn.
  2. I'm one of those middle age people and learning a new language is not difficult but for me being proficient in the second language is a matter altogether different. I enjoy the language very much and the cultures that come with it but I have yet to master it in a conversation.
  3. I guess you can. I would imagine it to similar to watching television, you would have to watch it over and over again to differentiate between words and understand the topic at hand.
  4. I'm still trying to grasp the language, television seems to help me differentiate between spanish words however, I still struggle with understanding the actual conversation. How many hours of spanish television would you recommend for it to be effective. I'm not much of a TV watcher.
  5. Never used a learning software...I learned spanish the hard way by listening, reading, and writing. In fact my career and personal life at times demanded I learn the language. Eventually it became fun learning it but I still have a long way to go to become fluent.
  6. Learning a new language also brings with it understanding a different cutler which is just as important.
  7. I would like to invest some time and energy into learning French, unfortunately I'm still wrestling with learning spanish. I may hold off on this a bit longer.
  8. Thanx for the feed back Trellum, a language exchange might be the way to go.....
  9. Me personally, I've always had an interest in the spanish culture however, it all begins with learning the language which really has been a challenge for me over the years.
  10. This the first I've heard of this. Where can I get more info on this?
  11. An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. -Benjamin Franklin
  12. I have a Kindle but I am by far a fan of the traditional book. However, Kindle is good to have when you're traveling and want to do a little more than just read.
  13. I wish that I could say that I had success. In fact, I would love to live in another spanish country and be immersed in the culture. I've always had problems understanding conversational spanish, maybe living in another country would help me with that.
  14. I agree with Trellum, it has nothing to do with brain capacity and everything to do with the time and energy invested into learning multiple languages. As much as I would like to learn a third language other than spanish the time isn't there to do so. Besides, I'm still trying to grasp spanish after a couple of years practicing.
