When did you start to learn a second language?
eagle22 replied to cbintz's topic in Language Learning
I actually didn't start learning a second language until I graduated college and realized I want to continue studying something. I decided to study sign language and became fluent in ASL. Now I am learning Spanish. -
I would also love to learn Greek. I have not met that many people that actually know how to speak that language, so I think that would be cool because it would set me apart from everyone else. Plus I think it is an absolutely beautiful language.

Ever tried reading a religious text in a foreign language?
eagle22 replied to SpringBreeze's topic in Language Learning
I have yet to try that but that sounds like a really good idea and something I will try soon. I am in the process of learning Spanish, so once I become more fluent I will pick up a copy of the Spanish Bible and try to give it a read, sound tough! -
It's different for each person. That's why I am not a huge fan of the school system, everyone learns in a different style and the school system is kind of for one style. I always comprehended things better when I read out loud.

I have not used it and I don't know of anyone who has, but it really does look interesting and I don't see any reason as to why it won't work. I think it is worth a shot!

Is there a language that you are just dying to learn but haven't yet?
eagle22 replied to Lacey's topic in Language Learning
Hebrew would be AWESOME to learn. I am not sure if you guys would count this as a language but I am in the middle of studying Sign Language. I actually had a conversation with a deaf person the other day, it was pretty cool! -
Do you over use "LOL" when you write to your friends?
eagle22 replied to Jaxter's topic in English Language | Discussion
Sure, I use it all the time when talking to my friends! Honestly, when I am talking to friends I never try to be "proper" with the way I talk. I have never seen the point to worry about my spelling and grammar when talking to them. -
Do you think online tutorials are effective?
eagle22 replied to Judhie's topic in English Language | Discussion
Personally I am an advocate of any type of online tutorial, I think they are great! When I was in school, some of the things the teachers/professors were teaching made no sense to me. That's why I would find online tutorial sites to help clarify some of the things I was confused about. -
Do you often use the dictionary to find new words?
eagle22 replied to fredkawig's topic in English Language | Discussion
I use the "online" dictionary to look up words I don't know. If you have a smartphone there is no need to carry around a dictionary with you anymore because you can look it up in your phone.
