Have you ever tried to learn a Conlang? (Ancient Post)

Fictional languages are very interesting. I think they are very much worth the time to learn. I heard that there was a couple that once met each other at a comic con and spoke different languages. The only language they could communicate to each other in was Klingon. Fictional languages are no joke. -
I think I have a very American English accent on my French. People I speak to who are fluent in the language know right away, because English is such a popular language. I think it all depends on the place you were from and the languages you are used to and you are speaking.

I think it may be a biological thing too. My dad used to speak Spanish when he was younger and now, though we can't speak Spanish, my whole family can effectively roll our r's. But I guess that really doesn't help much in your studies in particular. I would say just watch someone do it. Watching someone do it is the best way to learn it I feel and following online instructions only helps to a certain extent. Everyone has a unique way of speaking and that includes how they roll their r's.

I learned French from all the way back in early grade school. It was manditory but I don't think the teachers really cared about teaching the languages themselves, or they didn't know enough about the language to teach it fluently. But I always find that a classroom environment, where you can practice and hear people speak as well as speak, is a good place to learn a language.

For me, my method in focussing is just to study deeply for about 3 hours, taking a break, then switching to another area of study. It helps me to rejuvenate myself and keeps things fresh. I think that helps me get motivated as well. Also, I listen to music when I study. I think I read a study somewhere that slow paced music is best.
