What exactly is the learning curve for Latin? Is it something like Spanish that can be learned very easily or does it require a very strict program to follow and learn. Could I learn it on my own or would I be better off taking a class?

It does seem like it would get a little pricey over time depending on how fast you learn and it's not an actual teacher there. If you really want to learn a language I would be more inclined to dish out some real money and get a certified instructor but if it works for you then go for it.

I always am looking for assessment tools. It's one of those things where you can't really know how well you're doing until someone grades you on it or looks over your work, otherwise you might just be headed in the wrong direction. I used to have a great fear over stuff like this because I worried that I wasn't progressing as fast as the rest of the class or was doing something wrong, but it all helps in the end.

It is but you need to have a patient one. Having a very small class helps too because some people learn faster than others and then you move on and people get left behind. Language learning is one of those things, in my opinion, that should be taught to very small groups at a time as it is quite tedious.

Learning the language is hard, but its the accent that always gets me. Its the little things that can separate you from being bilingual and a complete amateur. I've been really trying to learn french, and that is by far the hardest accent to master in my opinion, but the language is beautiful.

So I have some spanish speaking friends on facebook and their is an option under their text that says "translation". Does anyone actually use this or no if it is completely reliable?

Is it possible to do more than one person at a time? I would love to learn as well and maybe having another person there learning as well would be easier as we could help each other.

I don't think so at all, in fact I think it's going to improve. We have a steady influx of people who are coming into our country speaking different languages, and a lot of schools are now teaching bi-lingual classes at a very early age so it is easier for the child to adapt to different languages. I think we will see it picking up.

The accent for me is really the last thing I worry about. The hardest thing honestly is the very basic words and structure of the language, everything else will come easily after that for me once you get a hang of the very basics.

Has anyone in here tried the Rosetta Stone language learning software and how efficient is it at picking up a new language? I dabbled in it for Spanish and it helped a little bit; however, I'm wondering if more complex languages will be harder to learn using this method. Has anyone had any experience in this?

From personal experience Spanish is by far the easiest and I've tried French and German as well. Spanish you can pick up quite easily as it is the most relate-able to English. It is also quite useful as well for people that travel abroad. If you have ever given any thought into Rosetta Stone it is well worth it for Spanish, maybe not for other languages though.
