  1. I think I would like to learn French next. It sounds so beautiful when it is being spoken. I would also like to learn some German, because my ancestors are from Germany, and my mother speaks the language.
  2. We started learning Spanish in the 1st grade I think at my school. Although, throughout the years of school, the Spanish classes were sporadic or absent. I didn't really pick up the language well until I reached my college years. That's when I began to learn the language more in depth.
  3. For me, I like to remember the order of things using pictures or other visual devices. For instance, to remember a phone number I will visualize the pattern that my fingers will take along the keypad. I may also use pictures to link to the word. I especially try to focus on which root words match a certain subject area.
  4. I love multiple choice tests. Even when I don't know the answer, I can still do deductive reasoning and get it right a lot of times. It may not seem like the best way to go about it, but I think that I would forget answers if I had to fill in all the blanks.
  5. I would have to say that speaking is definitely the hardest for me. It takes time to comprehend things, so when speaking I find it harder to put the words in the right order on the spot. When writing I get a bit more time to think about how things need to be said and in what order. With reading, I find it the easiest because I can see root words to remember the meanings if I forget and can take my time as needed.
  6. It is actually two words, but is commonly mistaken for a singular word. I think the confusion comes from combining some words like "everyone" and "wherever". It took me a while to realize that it didn't fall under the same rule.
  7. I always use the comma when making a list. It helps to show that each is its own thing, and that is also how my teachers taught me growing up. It can cause confusion if it is not there sometimes.
  8. I have a tendency to always throw in an extra "es" in there sometimes, especially when introducing myself. These are some great tips that would be very beneficial to learn. Thanks for posting!
  9. Thank you for sharing this! One of the best things about the internet is the amount of info. When learning a new language, you can easily find free software that can teach you. I think there are resources that are just as good as the paid versions. I appreciate that the software you linked to has an audio feature. It's hard to learn some of the words without having them said aloud to you.
  10. I would agree that it is a very useful language to learn. The usefulness as a second language is especially true if you live in the USA. It is the second most spoken language and it is a must for most business to be extremely successful, or at least on a large scale.
  11. I was skeptical of Rosetta Stone and have never tried it. It also costs quite a bit more than I would want to spend. With the internet, there are so many free avenues available for learning a new language. Try to find something that fits your style better and maybe you'll have more luck with it.
