'Seeing red' means extreme anger. I haven't heard it said in a while because I think most people just show their anger nowadays lol.

I like French the most because it sounds so calm and soothing and I dislike Cantonese because it sounds very angry. Just observations though I have nothing against the language itself or the people.

Hand me downs means that something is given to you for free from someone who has already used it. I know a lot about this because I have older siblings and I get their clothes all the time.

Yes, I have a lot of Japanese friends and I talk to them a lot but unfortunately we mostly use English because it would take too long for me to learn enough to communicate with them in Japanese Althea they are very enthusiastic with teaching me certain phrases and words.

I've never relied on it solely because. I've tried using it to translate to English and the result was incomprehensible so I imagine the same type of results would happen for translating from English. I'd maybe rely on it for a word or two but that's about it.

I've seen lots of people living in the U.S. for a very long time and still speak little English so I'm guessing it's more common than we realize. I suppose it takes living there and really making an effort to practice and integrate it into your subconscious.

I don't think it will happen because each language is very distinct, but even if it did have a high possibility of happening I'd say it shouldn't stop you because they are just mistakes and everyone will eventually make them. What's important is that you accomplish what you aim to achieve.

If it's a channel dedicated to learning English then I'd say it's worth it, but otherwise I think there are too many free resources online for me to want to spend much on learning a new language.

You could try using flash cards so it would seem more simple to learn the simple words. Also, comic books help a lot since you could review each panel thoroughly for as long as you need to whereas other mediums like video tend to make you play catch up.

Mine was Puss in Boots although I don't remember anything about it now. I just remember myself wanting to get read this book almost every night when I was younger.

A good way that my teachers were able to increase our vocabulary when we were kids was to have and discuss a word of the day. It might not seem like much, but I still remember and use many of the advanced words I learned through that method and I'm sure it would work just as well for simpler words as well.

The first one seems to be the only correct format or at least the only one that I find understandable. "Records written" doesn't sound at all familiar to me so I doubt it is used much if at all, and I don't understand the part about the narrow sense. Perhaps you could provide more information for context?

You could try out either Fiverr or Odesk so you'd at least have the advantage of seeing feedback and ratings for employers, but for this type of job, I imagine there is tons of competition though I'm sure it's very possible to work your way in and build up a reputation.

Reading comic books is how I learned the most of my English vocabulary and grammar from and I think it's the best method because you get to review past panels easily and see them in context whereas with a movie you'd have to keep rewinding and you won't have the benefit of having an overview of the whole story as context.

I personally prefer being in a group because then I don't notice so much that I'm trying to learn whereas if I'm in a one on one class I'd feel like I'm forcing myself to learn too much and thus probably won't learn it as subconsciously as I would if I were having fun learning it with friends.

It's definitely still considered a swear word, but as far as words I think shouldn't be counted as cussing, I don't believe there are any. I think some swear words can be used in media often enough that it becomes more acceptable in everyday communication, but they probably will always remain to be considered as bad words.

I know how to speak 3 languages but I'm only fluent in two of them. The third one is Chinese and although i can speak it probably enough to get by in a Chinese speaking country, I'd probably still need advanced lessons or at least a refresher course to further communicate.

I could be wrong, but I believe that anyone who wants it bad enough will be able to learn a new language eventually, given enough time. However, some just might have a bit more trouble with it than others, comparable to how some find math more difficult to understand than others.

I attack it by learning it from the foundation onward. I think that if you are able to learn the basic structure of the new language then the rest will eventually fall into place and each new advanced lesson will be much easier to learn.

My biggest fear in learning a new language is not being able to adjust my pronunciations enough to make the words I say understandable. I'm really hard on myself in that I would only consider myself successful at learning a new language if I can at least get close to the original pronunciation and sometimes that does get in the way of my learning.

I think a private tutor is a great way to learn if you can afford it. Surely, it will help with motivation and also you'd at least get personal guidance on pronunciations and you'd be able to practice it in real form through communication and conversation.

There are a lot of English words that have similar meanings, but when being used for more specific purposes like debates and studies, might not be as acceptable to interchange. I see this a lot too, and I think it has a lot to do with how a person hears the word and therefore they think it's the way it's spelled. I think it's the same case that causes people to use "then" instead of "than".

I agree. Cartoons are great for learning grammar and structure because kids don't read that much yet at a very young age, and I myself learned a lot of my grammar from watching a lot of cartoons and kids' sticoms when I was younger.

I'm guilty of misspelling weird myself, and without spellcheck, I'd probably continue on making the same mistake. I only noticed myself making this mistake recently too and it's made me wonder how many writings out there I have with a misspelled word.
