  1. I like much of Japanese culture, and I was interested in picking up a 4th(ish) language. I wanted to find a home away from home (or a new home) because I like to travel and wanted 2 or 3 places I really felt comfortable in as sort of "home bases". Can't feel comfortable in Japan without learning Japanese. Japan has many things I am interested in and opportunity in the fields I work with so for those and many other reasons learning Japanese was the way to go.
  2. Ah for me learning through anime is difficult because I always forget I'm trying to learn a language and get caught up in the story haha. I think it could be helpful if you have other learning methods going at the same time. But to learn Japanese mainly from anime no wayy. At best you'd pick up a few phrases. One thing that I do is I get those 3 minute anime series, and I watch it twice. Once with subs, and a second time without them. Been pretty helpful for me.
  3. Geez pink is beautiful  Even if I were not trying to learn the language, dubbed is just not the way to go. Sometimes part of the amazingness of the story is all these foreign words that sound great in the other language. But in your own it's kind of loses its magic haha. That and almost always in dubbed versions the voice acting isn't nearly as good and usually comical. Dubbed can work, but it's pretty rare. I say subs all the way.
  4. Nothing was really overly difficult for me. Kanji is time consuming but if you have the right tools it isn't bad. I used Heisig. But I'm still new so difficulty is probably up ahead. Right now I'm trying to determine the best study method on getting more complicated sentences. I'm pretty good at basic sentences but I need to start studying more intermediate structuring now.
  5. Anesthesia is pretty hard to spell. Though if you're learning English it shouldn't be something you run into too much hehe. Unless your dream is to be an English speaking anesthesiologist. That is the dream of most children.
  6. "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." - Theodore Roosevelt And for a less sophisticated quote... "The stacks that I be splurgin have girls in the back of the excursion forgetting bout the fact that they are virgins.." - Fabolous And then there was one from twilight when Edward told Bella that she was the air he breathes or something like that. It was pretty remarkable haha.
