  1. I use everything I have at my disposal because it is a good way of learning without having to go to classes everyday and it really improves your vocabulary because you have to search through pages or talk to people and you can learn in a more efficient way everyday however my main way of learning languages is the everyday practice because it forces you to learn something new every-single-day of your life whatever you do just practice and fail everyday and you'll see results.
  2. I've had a good experience regarding that kind of thematic because when I was a little one I used to listen to all kinds of music whether it was in russian, spanish, english, korean and even japanese and it definitely helped me improve my vocabulary and the pronounciation when I got to learn some of these languages later on my life. I'd recommend everyone to listen to foreign music every once in a while, it will come really handy.
  3. I've heard this quite a lot of times and I dont really think it is true, because I' have learnt a lot of english without placing a foot outside of my country, it is true that you need to live in the country to learn everything about the culture but it is kinda false for me that you necessarily need to live in the country to learn the whole language thing, what do you guys think about this?
  4. I personally started playing the games I liked the most to practice / learn and improve my english skills, you can also do many other things but the point is to learn whilst doing something you you really enjoy or like doing, for example, playing games, reading books, listening to music, chatting with strangers may work as well, also watching series and movies with subtitles, there are many ways, you might just get results with only one of them, however, you can try all of them at the same time if you want to, but as everything in life, it takes time and dedication, also love, mix all of them and you will surely get it done really quick.
  5. My favorite word in Italian, eehh... I think it is Mangiare that in english means eat and comer in spanish, there are many words that sound cool for me in various languages but the ones I like the most are Italian / Japanese words, for example Dattebayo! It is something Naruto used to say 24/7 which means something like Believe it or so.
  6. It all depends, for example, I currently live in a country where 0.5 of 10 citizens can speak english, not proper english but they try, I dont consider myself as an english speaker but I've learn a lot and I can actually say that I CAN speak english properly, everybody tells me that it is going to open many doors for me, job offers, girls will like me as soon as I start talking and stuff like that, I could really use that as an inspiration for my self person, however it will benefit you depending on the use you give to it, if you're learning because you wanna get a girlfriend go ahead and do it if you want but that is not a proper motive to learn, we gotta learn because we love it and we're somehow going to make a living out of it, at least that is what I think about that so yes, it benefits you a lot in many ways.
  7. Well if you're really interested on leraning the language and it is something exciting for you then you will never need an schedule to practice it, you can always do anything you could ever imagine while you practice, for example, I still do this though, when you're cooking or executing any chore, you can say what you're doing in another language, always in your mind, that's a good way of practicing or at least that's what I do all the time.
  8. There is always a way, if you really want it you will find time. When I just don't have the time I talk to myself when I'm walking from place to place, saying nonsense but it helps me improve my pronounciation, I think that is a good task to do when you don't have time. You should also carry a book in the language you want to learn so when you are either taking the bus or waiting in a line or something just take it out and start reading it will improve your vocabulary and your reading skills by a lot. Cheers.
  9. Oh well having a great memory would be awesome in many aspects of your life such working, relationships, gaming, daily interaction, etc that would make things so much easier but for a reason we don't, or we don't want to. Anyways I think if you try and try you can actually improve your memory with math tasks, learning languages and even playing games, having something in your mind is always a good sign I think. Cheers.
  10. It really depends on the person because some people would rather learn via social interaction rather than being on a computer or reading books that's how some people would find it easier to talk and some would it easier to write, some people I know are more efficient on writing than speaking but their vocabulary and how they put themselves on the paper/chat is amazing, I always tell them how they did that and they tell me just practice day by day and that is true and for the speaking guy they have great pronounciation but they sometimes lack vocabulary it really varies.
  11. I've gone through this and the only way to make it through it is to PRACTICE every day, do it without a break and trust me you will be able to learn whatever language you have in mind but the key to it is practice When I was learning english, the grammar couldn't stick to me and so I decided I would talk and talk and talk to my friends online to see how good I would develop withing a period of 1 month and I actually improved significantly just by chatting with them and playing games with them, that's a really good and interactive way to learn a language.77 Cheers.
  12. This is a great post, I'm actually trying to get into new languages and this is really useful for beginners like me. How do you actually pronounce what you put there? I'm guessing you pronounce it like it is written with an accent of course or even a volume, I don't know- I suppose this is a good way of learning some vocabulary for the language which is Japanese, anyways thank you for your help and I'll be sure to practice with your method. Cheers.
  13. Yes it is definetly hard and I wouldn't recommend it to you because the way spanish speaking people talk is really fast to people that do not speak the language and it can be frustrating because you will not get anything at all. You can try and start watching videos/movies/games even in spanish to get a hint of it and you'll be able to understand a lot of it in no time, trust me the more your practice the better you will get in no time and after maybe 3 months you will be able to understand the real spanish speaking people you couldn't get nothing out of, cheers.
  14. Google translate can be useful from time to time however /NEVER/ use it for more than a word because the grammar is just not right unless you totally need well go ahead and use it. You can use better ways to translate by yourself which are using some dictionaries and what you have learned because if you do that you will also practice which is great and you'll be improving your vocabulary along the way but yes I do not recommend Google Translate unless like I said it is TOTALLY necessary, I'm giving this opinion based on my experience and what I know, use it how you want and I hope I helped somehow.
  15. So calling names really depends on the context where you are, if someone you do /not/ have enough trust with calls your names you honestly shouldn't let it happen whatsoever. While I was learning english with my friends in my own country we call us names we use a lot of mean words because to us in the language we are learning it doesn't really mean an insult to us however in our native language we do not talk to each other like that we treat ourselves a little bit more respectful somehow but it is still the same after all but as I said it really depends on the context, the country you are currently at, the people, the place, etc. So you shouldn't really let anyone call you names if you don't trust the person.
  16. This could really offend someone if you do not know him well because trust me I've tried it and sometimes it turns out bad but hey it just might be the attitude of that person. I however have some tips on how to correct someones pronounciation politely. Tell them It's not pronounced like that and then you show them how but keep it kind don't make it like you are bragging about it, don't laugh either just give a good smile and that should be it, they shouldn't take it bad and if it is for a friend then you just tell that's not how it is how you are supposed to say that and then you show them but yeah if the person is a friend you shouldn't worry at all. Most of the people will appreciate why you corrected them in the future
  17. Practice, practice and practice. Yes it sounds simple and it is simple but you must practice every day for atleast 4 hours per day honestly and in a week you will realize how good you've improved. I can give you an example you read a book in the language you want to learn even if you don't understand what it really says just read it throughly for a week and at the end of that week you will have a wider vocabulary and a better sense of grammar I can assure you that and then you can move on the songs of that language you want to learn and you will get used to the words even faster and that's when you will be able to make a progress. I recommend you get a friend in the language you want to learn so you can practice on chat, talking, etc. but trust me practicing every day, every single day will make you learn that language faster than anything.
  18. What inspired me to learn languages was that when I met my friend that was fluent in spanish and english he had all the girls, he attracted a lot of attention to him and I really liked that I wanted to get that attention aswell must sound really stupid to some people but I was a kid and that's what made me interested in languages after all I started to learn languages through the movies I watched with my parents and then I got a computer and started looking up movies/videos by myself in english and after quite some time I started to understand what they were saying naturally it just came from practice and practice every day for atleast 2-5 hours per day. The more I grow I realize that it's great to learn languages because it opens you to a whole new society and it improves yourself and your culture.
  19. Well when I started to learn english it was really a problem for me because I couldn't get people to understand my english without repeating myself over and over again, but thats what made my english improve so much over the years that I'm glad I got mocked by my accent nowadays I can put up to the par with the people who mocked me for my accent. Once I read on a beautiful image " Do not ever make fun of someone for their accent, that means they speak another language". After all those training years of making mistakes while talking/writing it paid off and I'm glad I got mocked from time to time, cheers.
