Do you have words for "yes" and "no" in your language?

I noticed that your native tongue is Swahili, would you mind if I ask where you're from? I have family members from Kenya and I've heard them say something that sounds like a-pa-na for the word 'no'. I'm not sure if I am mishearing them or if it is only used for specific occasions.
