Dame6089
Over the years I have gotten into the habit of saying "asi es la vida" on a daily basis. It seemed to me to be the most logical translation for one of my favorite english phrases, "such is life". I've never asked a native spanish speaker if this is right or not. It will be a little embarrassing if I have been saying this wrong for years because some of my friends have even picked it up from my frequent use. limon
Yeah, that's what it means.Or "c'est la vie" if you're feeling fancy
MyDigitalpoint
Such is life or it can also be said "this is the life" although this last could be translated into Spanish as "Esta es la vida" but in English is more commonly said "this is the life" than "such is life"
limon
Hmmm, I would think those two phrases mean different things in both languages."Such is life" "Asi es la vida" is a shrugging resignation, close to "what can you do about it" or "that's the way it goes""this is the life" is used to mean "this is great"
SpringBreeze
Hmmh... I always thought it meant: "that's life". Is there a difference between "this is life" and "that's life"? I've actually never said "such is life" before.
linguaholic
Asi es la vida Could somebody please translate what the following sentences mean? I guess they are somewhat connected to 'asi es la vida'.
