Came here to advertise? Read first 12/05/2016Over the last few months, there's been a huge increase of members coming here just to advertise their own products, services, or whatever.
This is fine, but the "General Discussions" section is not the right place. If you came here to advertise anything you made or provide yourself, do this here.
If you came here to advertise anything you love to use, do it here. Thank you for your understanding. And remember: anything we consider spam is subject to the ban hammer. Any smash is available free of charge.

Hey, I just started working for a new Parisian based start up that offers a video chatting service for language learners. It's kind of a language tandem exchange thing! It offers theme cards and topics to facilitate talking with people and a quick and easy way to speak a foreign language fast!
It is called SpeakShake ! www.speakshake.com
We just launched the site and really excited to see what people think of it.
I've recently signed up for the free trial of Rocket Spanish, which includes free access to the full course for six days. This is my review of using and testing it for that limited period of six days. After the trial period you can decide whether you want to cancel your account or keep it. I did the latter because I fell in love with it (more about this later).
While the majority of Spanish learning programs continue to use traditional methods such as word repetition and picture matching exercises, Rocket Languages claims to "have tipped conventional language learning on its head" and formulated what I personally found to be a very engaging and interactive program to learn Spanish on your computer, tablet, or phone.
Studies have shown that the problem with the dated "image-recall" method of learning is that it suits children, but does not suit teenagers and young adults. This is because the brain evolves from being like a sponge in childhood to being less porous in adulthood. The best way for an adult to learn a language is to use his/her native language as the main learning assistant and a multi faceted learning approach using a variety of educational materials.

How it works
Rocket Spanish has adopted this modern approach to language learning. Each lesson is different, using quizzes, games, evaluation tests, and cultural language lessons to engage the learner on multiple levels. The wide variety of lessons is an entertaining aspect and allows the learner to immerse him/herself in the flow of the program in a fun and exciting way. There are fewer word repetition exercises and redundant matching games to be found than in more traditional language learning software, which, frankly, also makes it a lot less boring. Another aspect of this course is the focus on colloquial language. The program teaches the learner to speak as everyday locals speak, which means that when you visit a Spanish speaking country you will possess vocabulary commonly used among local people in the streets, which is, in my opinion, the only true angle to tackle it from.
This program can quite quickly take you from basic to fluent speaking if you put the time into it. The sheer volume of user interaction makes the program exciting and engaging. The program is multi platform compatible, which means that you can use it on a range of portable devices such as tablets and smartphones, particularly useful for people with busy schedules who want to learn on the go.
The bonus Survival Kit and cultural lessons provide another key learning platform that other programs tend to neglect. You will learn cultural sensitivity and gain a proficient understanding of the country's people and customs. This is extremely beneficial for expats or business people abroad in a Spanish speaking country.
Fun, interactive, engaging, and easy to use.
Provides a comprehensive language and cultural learning experience.
Lessons can be transferred to portable devices for learning on the go.
Highly affordable, offering far more value than direct competitors.
You may try the full course for 6 days with no purchasing obligation.
No skills assessment at the beginning.
Lacks advanced writing exercises.
I found Rocket Spanish being the most engaging and convenient to use compared to the others. The program is highly effective in teaching a coherent combination of vocabulary and conversational skills. It eliminates the cultural and colloquial barriers previously faced by Spanish language learners and provides a comprehensive learning experience that can be taken abroad. The forums allow students to ask questions and interact with tutors and other students. The community is an essential motivating factor for success.
I am a native Italian speaker, I am from Rome and I have been teaching Italian online for a few years. I'm very patient and enjoy meeting new people, and helping them to learn about Italian culture. I can help with Italian grammar, at every level, vocabulary and pronunciation. I also studied Italian diction for several years, so I can help students with improving their pronunciation. I offer structured lessons to learn Italian using books, handouts, and many other useful materials from the Internet, with wide usage of pictures, video, audio files, and other teaching resources. Each lesson can be based on dialogues, conversation, grammar exercises, reading, pronunciation and much more, and it's customized upon student's needs. In addition, I can assign homeworks so that students can practice language between one lesson and the subsequent one. I can teach from beginner level to expert.
My name is Fabio, I started study languages by myself 3 years ago. As the most of you (I guess), I want to learn languages by pleasure, so I don't see any reason to pay for that... but this is like a stone inside my shoes (Brazilian proverb), all of the good resources that I have found are paid.
Well, I had two options, pay and use it or don't pay but don't use it! I choosed the third one, create my own website with all the resources that I judge important to learn a new language.
I call this website LangLovers.com, now it's in a beta stage and I want to invite all of you to try it and help me to improve the quality of this website.
The main purpose of LangLovers.com is create a community of language learners, the website will be free of charge (of course!), but I pretend to receive donations or implement some Ads to specific pages, because some money is necessary to keep the website working (host, domain and etc...), I have created it by myself and I don't have much experience with website development... This is also an invitation for website developers that are language learners, if you want, you can help me to make it better sending me usefull code snippets.
All the content of the website will be created by the community, and the community will help each other’s to improve your language skills. The “content” means:
Texts Audio Corrections Dictionaries Chats
Link here: http://www.langlovers.com
This is a list of the supported languages available now:
English Spanish French Italian Portuguese Romanian German Japanese Chinese
But I'm still adding more languages.
Hope to see you soon!
