  6. I want to replace my mother tongue (Polish) with English. I live in England, all of my friends are English, I watch British TV, listen to English music, achieved grade 7 at English GCSE, I avoid Polish people (except for my family) and everything related to Poland, but I still think in Polish...can I change it? I hate Polish, Poland and the Polish culture and I really want to make English my primary language. (or Swedish or German or French or Chinese or any other language I know) Do you know any ways to "forget" your native language?
  7. Hello! I'm Deniz, 17 years old with a not-so great memory. I do have the motivation for learning another language, but not really the time as I am taking college and high school classes. I was thinking thirty minutes a day for seven days a week sounds like a plan. That's 168 hours per year; 3 hours 30 minutes / per week. If I were diligent, the numbers would be higher. Do you think 30 minutes is impractical? I don't have to be fluent in the third language, but I would like to be proficient. I speak fluent English as it is my native tongue and I know a good chunk of Turkish, though I shou

  9. In a vast yet diversified country like India where dialect and languages vary for every couple of hundred kilometres, English and Hindi remain among the most widely spoken, understood and recognized languages. Along these two languages, English generally connects a lot of people who hail from areas where spoken local languages are completely different from each other i.e. Tamil and Marathi. In such cases, English acts the bridge between the individuals and enables them incommunicating with each other easily. For all other practical purposes also, English is widely hailed and used as a common l

  12. It's not my site but... I believe you all might find it useful. WordBrewery is a new website that pulls sentences from the news. They are then categorized by level and topic. There's also a search bar so you can find specific words in context. Audio, translation, and the source article are included. It's also possible to save words and sentences to lists, and export these to Anki. It's currently free to use. Like every other app, all you need to do is register. Personally... I use it for German, as it doesn't have Hindi yet. But it's rather nice, because it's hard to f
  13. Wanted to share with users here a possible new way of finding a language teacher and possibly making new friends in the process. https://www.caretoshare.co.uk takes a minute to list your skills you are offering and wanting help with and members can then contact you to arrange to share.
  14. First of all, I want to thank God for allowing me up to make this video, so that I can show you all. Since this was a dream I have had for almost 4 years, to make a video where I am speaking a lot of languages, and well, here it is my dream. (I AM NOT FLUENT IN ALL THOSE LANGUAGES)- I would like to warn you guys, I don't consider myself as a Polyglot, and any other fuckery related to it. 15. Hi! My name is Fabio, I started study languages by myself 3 years ago. As the most of you (I guess), I want to learn languages by pleasure, so I don't see any reason to pay for that... but this is like a stone inside my shoes (Brazilian proverb), all of the good resources that I have found are paid. Well, I had two options, pay and use it or don't pay but don't use it! I choosed the third one, create my own website with all the resources that I judge important to learn a new language. I call this website LangLovers.com, now it's in a beta stage and I want to invite all of

  18. I'm surprised nobody has listed this app yet. I use it mostly for learning Japanese but from time to time I also use it for brushing up on my Spanish. I guess you can say it is kind of like Duolingo except you get to choose which course you would like to learn. There are points and you can share your progress on social networks as well. You can register online first (recommended) and then sync up the app on your mobile device. My favorite thing about Memrise is that there is more to learn than just languages, you really just need to see it for yourself. Oh and the courses are written by other
