  1. I just keep on studying no matter how lazy or problematic I am. I forget a lot of things that's bothering me, even laziness. I don't try to think why I am doing the things I am doing, as when I do, I end up screwed. I also listen to music while I am studying to oil my pace and my study mood.
  2. I check my dictionary as often as I need to, frequently when I am reading a technical material in which words are not easy to understand based on context clues alone. I also check my dictionary when I am expanding my vocabulary. I look at it, scan through it to find a word I think I would be able to use a lot.
  3. Wow this is great! This is the first time I am able to know what words like these are called. In German language it is very common. It's just that they don't appear in the dictionary. Are these words, on the other hand, do?
  4. There are a lot that do not look funny when used as names like: Faith; Heart; Grace; Mary (Marry); Christian; King; Pope; Ace. These are all I can give for now, but there are a lot more!
  5. 'What could have happened' is the correct one because it is preceded by the auxiliary verb have. It would be the same as 'should have happened', 'must have happened' and 'would have happened'.
  6. Yes, because I have to think a lot and do not consider having mistakes. I have to think about the word, the grammar, the correct pronunciation and the proper enunciation. There are so much to think a lot on when you are not that accustomed yet to the language you are speaking. Sometimes, you think you can't just do it, but you have to do. This is where the real tense up comes from.
  7. It is definitely going to be a good supplement to watch movies in the language you are learning. You will not just get familiarity of the words, but you will also get acquaintance with their culture which is important to bring the language you are learning into your heart. Furthermore, it's not boring; you are really going to have fun while watching. I also watch French films to supplement my study materials.
  8. Very important, because more than the grade, it's the mastery of the language that is being tested. It's where my grades were dependent on and whether I would be able to study in my dream school. Moreover, it offers a lot of opportunities to travel and work abroad. It's also the current international language, so somehow it's going to pay off almost everywhere you go, not certainly though.
  9. The last, letter d is not a passive sentence. The propositional clause there is not the cause why the subject is tired. The subject is simply describing himself. Unlike with the first three, it's not just stated there who actually did the action to them. That's why there's no 'by' there.
  10. It's is a contraction of the pronoun it and the verb is like I'm. Its, on the other hand, is a possessive pronoun like my, his, her, their, and your.
  11. This is a classic advice that I would be giving. The best way to learn and expand your vocabulary is through reading and application. You must read a lot so you get to encounter a lot of words. And those words that you've encountered, you have to apply them of course, so your memory will hold tighter on them. It's preferred that you apply or use the words 10 times for you to be able to use them simultaneously.
  12. The correct one is cancelled, with 2 ls. Yes, it's confusing because in English, usually you have to add d or ed at the end of the word to form its past tense. But with here, another l is added before the ed, which somehow deviates from the rules of forming the past tense of an English regular verb. I have been also confused by it.
  13. In my own perspective an elegant is someone who possesses a high level of class and character and appearance greatly matters. It may include being smart. A smart on the other is just being smart. You could be smart and be not elegant, rough and untidy. Being smart doesn't need to have a character of sophistication, but being elegant does.
  14. Yes, it's fun actually. I mean when writing it's really hard to convey your exact emotion, my exact emotion. So I use everything available, everything that I know of that could convey accurately what I feel. Besides, they are my friends. They know me and understand me.
  15. One week, seven days, during the time when I was out for retreat. We were not allowed to speak. We were only allowed to read, sleep and eat. That's what I all did during that week. It did enjoy though. It was relaxing. Only that I thought, I will forget how to speak. Luckily, I did not!
  16. Wow! I am actually surprised that there are people who are interested learning fictional language. And only now that I knew that they could really be learned. Before I just thought that they don't make sense. I was wrong because they do. And now, I feel like I wanna also give it a try.
  17. Pulchritude I am not sure why. It just sounds so funny to me despite its meaning. It's so funny to the ears and at the same time harsh.
  18. I think I read just fine. Not that slow and not that fast. I have encountered people who actually read slower than I do, but never those that read faster. No, I am not a fast reader because I could still not take away sub-vocalization while I am reading.
  19. It couldn't be more useful than providing the meanings of the word, the translations of them each. It just really doesn't help when one is translating to get the thought of what is being translated.
  20. Yea, sure I have. But not the one people are familiar with. It is not the one they could not classify. I guess it is the accent that my native language and speaking a foreign one produced.
  21. I've known about this site a long time ago. They offer tons of ebooks of classic novels and some. All I've encountered were written in English. I didn't know they also have for German. Do they also have for other languages like French? Anyway, I am studying German now. But I am still a newbie. Nevertheless, I am inspired and excited to get some reading from Project Gutenburg and read German.
  22. Very useful information. I am studying German now and looking at these great resources, I just got more excited and passionate. I just got it bookmarked.
  23. Yes, I agree that it can sound harsh and rough at times. But not aggressive whenever I hear it. I don't know why for some it is. Maybe because I studied it.
  24. I often find myself troubled spelling these words: accommodate - I often leave out the other m. occasion - I often put 2 s and sometimes I put only 1 c. citizen - I am confused if the second i is supposed to be e. aggressive - I often spell it with a single g. tomorrow - I sometimes put 2 m. I am confused with a lot more words. They are the ones that I can remember for now.
  25. I don't use short-cuts. First, I am not used to it. I haven't even tried it in my life. Never. Second, I get seriously annoyed whenever I am being sent a message full of short-cuts. It is hard for me to read them. More often than not, I don't get to understand them.
