  1. I think it is sign of intelligence, not many people can speak fluently more than one language. As said above can be fruit of the circumstances or of hard work, but even so you have to be smart!
  2. Unmotivated to read, unmotivated to do sports, unmotivated to do a lot of things, I think that the key here is finding a book that interests you. You're into gaming, why not a book about gaming?
  3. I was never a part of a language club, but I think it's a great idea for those learning languages, sharing a common interest will always boost the learning experience. The more look-a-like a language club I've belong to is our linguaholic.
  4. Yep, thanks for the share. I've never used it and I have some reservations about online courses, I think that might take us only half way, but for a starter why not, I'd use all free resources available.
  6. Fast talking is no issue to me except when as you mentioned it's a language I am not totally fluent in. In this case I don't know what's worse, fast talking or doing it with a difficult accent.
  7. I agree with you 1inamillion, if the correct grammar doesn't matter much most of the times in what regards communication, it matters more in social terms, people will think that you have no education, but that is not necessarily a bad thing.
  8. OK so language coaching is the same thing as teaching right? Or is it more like tutoring?

  10. I think we all were frustrated in the process of learning a language, simply because it's not easy, it's really a hard process that requires effort and determination from our part, so when we put in all we have and even so we seem to be getting no where, surely it's frustrating!
  11. Ahah, your daughter as a language coach, couldn't get much better than that! I am not totally getting the difference between a language coach and a private teacher, is there any?
  12. I think every person finds their native language easier than any other because we were born with it, we learned it in a natural way, so it offers no difficulty to us. A language that we don't speak daily is of course more "difficult" as we're not familiar with it.
  13. That is really a sad story Daimashin, you lost the only copy of your book?? Publishing a book is not easy, an e-book is probably easier, you have the classic "door-to-door" option when you try to set up meetings with publishing houses or send them to Amazon, or else you can publish it yourself.
  14. You got me stuck when you asked what language do I think! Right now I am thinking in English probably, but usually I think in Portuguese, I think that sometimes I even think in Portuguese and write/speak in English and therefore my strange English... :nerd:
  15. That depends a lot, for example on the involvement you would have with the locals and the effort you would put in, but I'd say that in a couple of weeks you could pick up basic sentences if you were really putting in the effort.
  16. I don't think it's possible to learn a fictional language 2Marie, what's there to learn? An alphabet? Grammar?
  17. Thanks for sharing Denis, I think I've used these resources a few years ago, they are basic like Aishe says, but they have good quality!
  20. I'm with John here, I say anyone can learn a language regardless of being an introvert or extrovert. If you're into learning you will learn, if you have to speak you will speak, it's not a social thing learning a language, it's studying right?
  21. I think I might speak sometimes a mix of Spanish and Portuguese because both are so similar that sometimes I don't know what is Spanish and what's not lol. That would be Spanuguese probably! I think Spanish understand us fairly well if we put their accent regardless of the words we use or simply maybe I speak better Spanish than I think.
  25. Good question, I don't think I ever noticed my body language... Probably I'll have a more effusive body language in more informal environments and when I am more nervous or excited, but I don't know up to what point or extent the body language will make me communicate better, probably worse if I am more nervous.
