  1. I don't get frustrated with language interplay. I actually get excited and it gets me going and on the hype. With exception to Chinese and Korean, those kinds of language really infuriate me. It's like a couple of Chickens talking. No offense though XD

  2. I'm planning to do the same maybe when I have my vacation. Amazon and other sites who advertise is a great way to publish your ebook. Go through boards especially local one's that relate to the ebook that you will publish and post them there. Amazon is the best way currently as of today to publish an ebook.

  3. I haven't really used video games for language learning although I'm learning new words through playing video games either through the characters or through other circumstances. I usually focus on the gaming part instead of the reading that's why I don't think it would be effective for me to learn another language through video games although I'm going to try it next time.

  4. English songs are the best way and the most creative way to learn music. Specially for the songs which are sung on a very good pace and from a fluent English singer. I learned English and had the most wonderful time by listening to Hillsong which is an Australian worship team or band. It really is good to listen to music which has sense rather than those which have no sense at all.

  5. Yes. We Filipinos love to do that. Have you ever heard of Taglish? It's a mixture of Tagalog and English. Most Filipinos, especially the uneducated ones, use a mixture of our language and English which sometimes can be pretty annoying and hard on the ears. There are a few instances when Taglish is actually good to hear and can really make matters more understandable especially since some English terms cannot really be translated in Tagalog.

  6. Yes. Speaking English too fast is really hard for those who are new and are learning the language. A Korean here in the Philippines who is a Pastor told us in a meeting regarding sending missionaries in Asia that Filipinos are the best speakers of English. We were all grateful and a bit embarrassed since there were American Pastors who were listening. I think the reason people like Filipinos to teach English is mostly because of our Patience and Kindness to foreigners because it is mostly found in our culture. Being patient with a student is the key to letting him grasp the knowledge that you are portraying and handing over to him.

  7. I totally believe it because I'm also a Bible based Christian and this is not simply a tale or a story. Due to the People's wickedness and wanted to become higher than God, God really intended for us to be a family with one culture but ever since all of us were scattered and had different languages. Right now, the world is again rebuilding the tower of babel as they venture into knowledge and the thinking that we can be like God. Pretty soon God will judge again. We can see the reality of English becoming a universal language once again which would unite all nations and create a perfect society and act like God once more.

  8. Each language has its own proverbs. Don't you think it would be interesting to know different proverbs from around the world? Let me share some that I know.

In Japan, there is a famous saying that goes something like "the nail that sticks out gets hammered down", which means if you stand out, you will be put down. Basically it is similar to "crab mentality", which refers to pulling down someone who is excelling at something to become ordinary more like everybody else.

Another one is an old saying in the Philippines that says "weed/wild grass does not die easily" which means bad influential/powerful people are difficult to get rid of. It's like saying corrupt government officials who embezzle public funds tend to live longer for they can afford stem cell treatments or mafia/triad members can turn the tides of criminal case filed against them to their favor due to bribery.

I totally agree with you on the Philippines, and the reason why they have that saying is because most if not all officials are corrupt and have stolen money from the people either in millions or trillions of pesos while the people are starving and going abroad for work.

  9. I never drank alcohol. I have a classmate who they claim to have increased knowledge and fluency when he is drunk. We also have one employee who speaks in straight English when he is drunk. Maybe it enables something in their brain that makes them shameless or something.

  10. Loss of words does happen to the best of us. Not only has it happen to me, I have also been embarrassed because of it. To be questioned by a little kid and find that the answer just isn't coming is actually a shameful thing :speechless:.

That's funny. Well I guess everyone experienced it for once in their lifetime.

  11. Well, I'm not sure if my experience is similar to your case, but there are instances where the word I wanted to express is already at the tip of my tongue but just can't seem to recall what it is, so I am left speechless for a few seconds, even minutes, until I remember the word or if the person I am speaking with already figured out what I'm trying to say. I think it is more of a problem with maintaining a sharp memory rather than an issue with lack of vocabulary knowledge or something.

Exactly. It's a memory issue and not one involving vocabulary or knowledge.

  12. Language is the main and recognized form of speech. Dialects are part of the main language spoken but deviates from the original language either through pronunciation, accent, use of words, meaning and the like. Language is the recognized form of speaking a particular tongue and dialects are part of the the language which differ accordingly.
