I couldn't have said it better myself. I am quite a stickler when it comes to keeping things simple between me and persons I am dealing with, and if I receive a text message which contains anything about "jeje" I am starting to get pissed off, if not entirely angry. While I wouldn't mind "jejemon" speakers as long as they convey the message clearly, text messages containing any forms of "jeje" is something I have little or no tolerance with. I mean, has our society degenerated even more now? Because of the "jejemon" phenomenon, we think that it's cool to be a "jeje" these days. I say, it's not cool. And I've also heard of the "BOOM! PANIS" phrase; that is just as bad as "jeje." Because the media is using it liberally, expect teenagers to learn from them and adapt the message.

It depends on the show being telecast. When it comes to anime, I can choose between dubs and subs. Depending on the anime show, I would like it dubbed for purposes of hearing the English voices out of curiosity. Sometimes their translation from Japanese to English is not entirely accurate, but as I said, I just want to hear the said voices. However, when it comes to movies and live-action shows, I will always choose the subs. While listening to subs, I am able to learn some of the basic Japanese phrases and swear words. The subs will also help me understand the flow of the story, and once I already get used to it, I can do away with the subs.

Personally, I have no issues with learning katakana since I would always try to experiment with the foreign name, translating it through trial and error. For instance, most proper nouns of persons, places, and others with no equivalent to hiragana or kanji, katakana is almost always used. Visiting a Japanese Wikipedia page will help me especially in reading various katakana.
