It does help with speaking it also does with grammar, but you need to pay a lot attention to it in order to really get the most out of it. I wish the course came with a booklet of some sort! So we could at least see a transcription of the whole lesson ;p knowing how to write a language is really important too

Hi delusional! Actually my boyfriend told me that learning dutch is a mustvif I want to find a job over there, because that will definitely make things way easier for me. I think I will stick to the Pimsleur method for the basics, then after that I will try a different course. But it seems learning dutch while in the Netherlands is way easier than at home!
  3. My future in laws a seems to prefer speaking to me in Dutch than in English but that's probably because their English isn't that good. Plus they want me to learn Dutch fast, so me and their son can start a life together pretty soon. I hope I never get to experience what you said tho. Because being able to practice dutch with native speakers is truly useful when you are trying to learn the language as fast as you can.
  4. Yup! That's right! I'm finally in the Netherlands visiting my boyfriend's family. I must say dutch isn't as hard as I thought it would be, I really think I can learn it faster if I move here for good! So far I have only been in the Netherlands for just 2 weeks or so and I'm already starting to recognize a lot different words. It's amazing! I've already learnt some words, but the pronunciation is still the hardest part of learning this language. I really think I can do it tho I still need some times on how to get my dutch ''r'' right Tips and suggestions are always welcome
  5. Awesome! I think this is exa fly what we needed! Having a language exchange sub forum is a great idea I might need to get in contact with a dutch native in the future Thanks admin! I'm sure a lot people will benefit from this
  6. I don't like people who speak too slowly actually, I very much prefer fast speakers, because I'm not the most patient person when I'm waiting to get something explained. I like concise people tho, who can express their ideas in a few words... instead of giving a full speech that is not even to the point. That's what I prefer. I've been told I'm a fast talker, specially in Spanish, because I feel I'm always in a rush or doing something! In English I'm a slightly slower speaker, just above the average in terms of talking speed
  7. I'm not a christian, and even if I was I'd not believe everything the bible or any other religious book says. I take everything with a grain of salt, yes, even the things that are said in my own religious book. They say we shouldn't take things so literally, specially when it comes to the bible. I see most stories in the bible and other religious books were meant to teach us lessons, but shouldn't be taken literally. With that said, I must admit I highly doubt that tower ever existed.
  8. No, but I'd consider getting one to help me with Dutch in the future, since learning Dutch is really important for me. I'm willing to invest on something like that in the future, and surely I will if I have way too many troubles learning the language
  9. Hola Riz! Ayudame a corregir mis errores. Gracias!
¿Y a ti cuáles te gustan?
Hace muchas canciones buenas. ¿Y a ti qué múica te gusta? Hola!
  14. There are far less blind people nowadays than there were in the past. In the last year I only saw one blind person in the street, it seems this was more common in the past (according to my mother). With that in mind... I'd not focus all my effort in something I'll probably never use. That's just me tho If you ant to know how blind people ''read'' and ''see'' with their eyes, then I recommend you to read a book on it instead
  15. I'll mention some of my favorite ones in Spanish that we often use here in Mexico: ''Más vale malo por conocido que bueno por conocer'' - It basically means you are better off sticking ot what you already know and are comfortable with, since trying something new can be tricky. ''Más vale pajaro en mano que cientos volando'' - It basically means you should protect what you already have instead of looking for greener lands. We have so many of those proverbs, they're considered really old-fashioned by the young people here, but from time to time we use them.
  16. Any word with the ''th'' sound is hard, specially the word ''teeth'', but anything in English is way easier to pronounce that any Dutch word you pick randomly! I love the fact is so easy to predict the pronunciation of most English words, but with Dutch I rarely know. So hard! English is a very easy to learn language, I know I can fix my minor pronunciation issues if I put some effort into it this year. I need to check the pronunciation of several words and that will be it I'll create a list.
  17. There are many words that instantaneously attract my attention, almost intensively: - Accident - Crash - Emergency - Warning - Tornado - Tragedy - Fire - Murder - victory - Cancer - HIV - Hero - Horror -Terror - Explosion Apart from all those words I also feel forced to read something if the name of one of the medications I'm taking is in the title.
  18. LOL, this is funny, mine is ''Mekashikuto''. Funny thread capa! I love this kind of games with letters are words, that's one of the few things I miss about Facebook, other than that bleh! Facebook was quite fun back in the day, sometimes I miss it. Thanks for reminding me that... lots fond memories!
  22. A caray!
  23. The basics would probably be: Por favor - Please. ¿Dónde está el baño? - Where is the bathroom. Me llamo... - My name is... Ayuda! - Help! Estoy perdido, puede ayudarme - I'm lost, can you help me? ¿Sabe donde puedo encontrar a... - Do you know where I can find... Necesito ayuda para encontrar una dirección - I need help to find an address. ¿Qué ruta debo seguir para llegar a... - What route should I take to get to.. Discúlpeme! - I'm sorry! Perdón! - I'm sorry (a bit more serious).
  24. I never thought about English like that either, I started doing it when I grew up and started to understand so many things about life When you are young you usually avoid thinking about this kind of things, because at that age this concept is kinda hard to grasp, but as an adult it shouldn't be. For me English was a great investment I did without even trying or thinking about it. Now I'm reaping the benefits of learning it when I was younger
  25. Hahahaha!!!!! I laughed so hard at the word ''pajero''. I really wonder if those companies do that on purpose? Maybe as some kind of marketing stunt? Who knows! I can't believe they do this by mistake, I mean someone in their company must speak either Germany or Spanish or whatever other language where they launch their new products. They keep doing similar things, and I believe ''pajero'' was no mistake What a way to attract your attention!! Hehehe!
