  1. I am not a foreign language teacher , but I do teach. Find out what appeals to you student and take advantage of it, find ways to work your student's interest in to lesson plans. Find some simple games that you student can play to prevent boring memorization by repetition . Don't forget to offer up a few simple prizes like candy and stickers. Complement them when they are successful.
  2. When I was in middle school I was taking a French class , I hated every minute of it. One day we had a substitute and she gave us a list of words to put in to a short story. This was one lesson plan I really enjoyed , I think I learned more in one day from that single lesson than I had learned the entire class. For the first time I felt confidant in the use of a new language and was motivated to use what I had learned.
  3. Do you use any instructions aids that are not found on an or web site ? Do you still make flash cards or make drawling to help memorize and study you new language?
  4. Rosetta stone was offering up a free trial of their service. I do think that this is just to suck people in to buying the full program , I would not be suprised to see add ons go on sell a some point in time for this app. However as long as it is free why not take adavntage.
  5. There is nothing wrong with self learnig. You are able to learn at you own pace and spend time focusing out the area of study you need most. You can tailor your education to a style that best fist your learning ability. Sure having someone to teach you is of great benifit ,but there are also adavanatges to being self taught.

  10. I have heard nothing but great things about Rosetta stone. I have even tried out a demo of their program and I enjoyed using it to learn. The high price point of Rosetta Stone is a real turn off. It is a shame that the don't make a more affordable product. I try to find a used version on line.
  11. I think the best motivator for learning another language would be necessity. If yuo were thown in to a situation where you need to speak another language in order to survive or commincate with everyone else around you. You never know what you are capable of until you are faced with a challenge.
  12. You can go on the internet and find pictures that illustrate the word and the spelling.Make poster or large flash cards. People tend t o hold on to an idea if thay are able to realate back to a tangible example.
  13. When I was in elementary school we had an exchange student program. Students in grades 5 and 6 Went to France. They would meet once a week and study the langauge one of the man resourses the teacher liked to use was muzzy. The funny thing is most of the student thought they were too old for muzzy and called it lame.
  14. In the US we and not forced to become fluent an a second language. I always thought it was intriguing how people from other countries could easily speak two or even three languages. I think it would be nice to be able to communicate with people from different places in their lanuage.
  15. The for dummies series is know for producing excellent results. It might be worth checking out in order to have an actual reference book to learn from. It is become harder to find real books that help teach language in this digital age. I will be looking for these books.
  16. Mr. See owned a saw. And Mr. Soar owned a seesaw. Now, See's saw sawed Soar's seesaw Before Soar saw See, Which made Soar sore. Had Soar seen See's saw Before See sawed Soar's seesaw, See's saw would not have sawed Soar's seesaw. So See's saw sawed Soar's seesaw. But it was sad to see Soar so sore just because See's saw sawed Soar's seesaw.
  17. This is a neat quiz. I wonder how many native english speaker would pass with a prefect score. It is amzing how many people gloss of the basic or forget as soon as they finish school. This would be a fun test to give to school age children to make sure they have a good grasp on the basics. I can see how valuable this could be fo those new to english , it could also help give a refernce for those words that can be a little confusing.
  18. This sounds so cool!! How do you sign up of a virtual Lanuage Partner? I have never heard of this before , but I would love to try it. This is a great way to keep motivated and learn from a native speaker.
  19. Most colleges and universities do not offer any Korean language courses. Does anyone attend a school that teaches Korean as a second language? If your school offered Korean courses would sign up?
  20. I have noticed several Korean languages learning Apps available. Has anyone tried any of these app's. Did you find them helpful? There are some free app and also some that available for a small price. Would you pay for a app to learn Korean , how often would you use it?
  21. Studying other other subjects with ther people has helpd me to learn better. However when it comes to learning another language , I need to work by myself to bulid a basic understanding. Then I can practice with other students.
  22. I am able to read fast when necessary, however most of the time I like to read slowly. This way I savor what I am reading. You would not rush though a movie just to get to the end ,so why rush though a book. Take the the time to enjoy what you read.
  23. I must admit that when I am with my friends my proper English take a back seat. We slide in to lazy language and use a large amount of slang. Many of the grammar rules go out the window. The endings of some words get dropped. Yes we do know how to speak proper English , but in a casual setting we often relax the rules.
  24. The fist time I began to learn a new language was when I was in seventh grade. I studied French , that was a total fail. I just could not pick up the language. I gave it two years and still I struggled . The strange thing is there are words that have stuck with me years later. In The USA I think we wait too long to try to introduce a second language to students. We need to start earlier in the primary grades.
  25. Right now I am learning alone. In the past I have taken classes and this was not the best way for me to learn. I like being able to study at a self paced rate. This is what works best for me.
