What's the hardest part about learning a new langauge?
caparica007 replied to mareebaybay's topic in Language Learning
I think you focused the hardest parts for me. The most difficult is no doubt speaking fluently, I think it's much harder than writing or reading (reading for me is the easiest part). But as thekernel said you need to have great motivation and discipline to learn a language or else you will not make it. -
Hey AnythngArt, welcome to linguaholic. I do love travelling as well, I think it's one of the best parts of life. Hope to see you in the French practice thread!

Ich glaube Portuguiesisch ist nicht leicht, aber keine sprache ist. Ich glaube dass fur einer ein sprache lernen, er musst viel wollen. -
Yes, accents are really different from regions, but I imagine that happens with German too and all the other languages. Particularly the Açores accent is really difficult to understand, not mentioning some Brazilians and the African countries.

Ich glaubt es will nicht sterben, wir haben jetzt unsere eigenen forum... Aber warum nimmst du das Kurs nicht? -
For me it was English no doubt because I learned it as a kid and I don't even recall having a hard time. I have studied it for possibly 10 years and that is a long time. With the help of all the TV shows in English and the internet I think it makes a complete learning. Not that my English is perfect or near from it of course... :frozen:

@sfimirat, I have googled it and couldn't find it. I have studied quite a few languages and one of the first things I did was printing stickers and try every key of the keyboard to see where I put each character...

Nur in English brauchen wir Grossbuchstaben mit "I" und Lander. -
Most movies here in Portugal are in English and that helps a lot to acquire new vocabulary and to work on the accent. Sometimes I also watch the German channels do that I can practice a little and don't forget the language.

I see your point, we also have a lot of Brazilian TV contents and that helps. On the other hand, I also have a hard time understanding Portuguese from Madeira and Açores sometimes... :nerd:
