      1. you giggle to yourself when you are chatting in your native tongue when someone says a word that has a completely different meaning in another language
      2. Let's look at this from the industry and author's viewpoint for a moment. When music started moving to mp3 electronic format and away from the physical CD it became very easy to copy. Napster arose and music was swapped and downloaded at a breakneck pace across the planet. Finally the industry responded by coming up with a realistic pricing model making piracy less attractive.
      3. The word "bilingual" (in English) holds no connotation of advanced fluency in my opinion. It seems to imply some basic conversational skills and creating sentences of your own instead of parroting something back from a phrase book, but there's nothing native or near native about it. That's the way the word has always been used when I've encountered it, not the way I necessarily think it should be used.
      4. I think that english is definitely going to be the worlds mode of communication if it is not already. You can see this with the way things are going. A lot of countries with multiple languages choose english to be the neutral language. I think that it is probably best. I think that media and music are also ways that the language is penetrating the world
      5. I think that i tune out and phase out when i start hearing another language that phases me and i cannot really make it out. I think that it is an unnecessary struggle and i do not wanna put my mind in a learning zone when it does not really need to be in that position.
      6. It is crazy to hear all these stories and it is really something to realize how much tv can affect you. I am now wondering if it can affect character and if people have learnt how to be who they are by watching tv. the influence is truly phenomenal.
      7. I went to my dads home village a few years back and the cities we lived in spoke other languages and so i was not able to learn my dads native language. Unfortunately the people where my dad is from did not understand this and pretty much looked down on me and made me feel as though i was a traitor. it was a pretty awkward experience for me
      8. I think that it is possible that all languages came from one place and that as people travelled and the world got bigger, the languages developed and became what they are they are today. But i do think that there will always be common underlying themes in every language.
      9. I have been to places where i have heard young people speak english better than the americans and their accents sound real authentic, but they are continents away from america. When you ask them where they learnt how to speak like that, they will tell you that they watch a lot of tv and thats where they picked it all up from.
      10. It happens a lot to me. It is called judging a book by its cover. I think that tv plays a major role in this. I learnt and saw a lot of stereotypes through tv and so you naturally adopt these thought processes and before you know it, you are now judging and classing people.
      11. In general american are arrongant. I found this to be true when i realized that they spell certain words different from how the british who are the owners of the language do. It takes a lot of arrogance to adopt a language and then tell the innovators how to spell it.
      12. I try to find a motivating factor before i get into something. Say if i wanted to lose weight, a motivating factor would be that girl from college. So i will then begin to lose the weight and be really diligent about it.
      13. I think that losing a language may be really bad, but have one that everyone understands is also something that i see as great. I think that communication is very important and language is there to serve that purpose. So if it is preserved but only a handful can speak it then it is not really serving the human race as a whole.
      14. I love the Russian accent. I think that it sounds really flowy but also there is a lack of emotion in a lot of the words. I think that it is really strong and you can hardly miss it. I think the movies have made this accent real cool for me.
      15. I think that poetry is one of the best uses of the english language. It is a great art form and a skill that people who write poetry have honed. But then there are some really amazing songs out there that have your head boggled by their lyrics. I prefer poetry though. Which would you prefer?
      16. When i read aloud, i tend to be a bit of a slow reader and i try to follow the grammar and all sorts. But when i read in my head i get through a lot of things without too much thought as i read only for my own understanding.
      17. One word for me that i think really sounds great and expresses the meaning is buzz. I just love the thought and the idea. Buzz is one of those words that are childish but you can say it with dignity. Its pretty cool.
      18. I think that slang is really an important part of any language. I think that the human race as a whole loves social gatherings and loves to feel free from structure and regiment and so slang allows you to do that. You will find that every language has slang and some of this slang gets incorporated into the language and even the dictionary.
      19. I have a few words that i just find amusing and flow out of my mouth real nice and easy....one of them is really....i just love that word
      20. when everyone around you has to ask you what the last five words you said mean all the time
      21. Writing in another language to me is something that i would say is hard. I tend to pick phrases and the accents real nice and easy, but putting pen to the paper is a challenge to me. I love the adventure in learning and getting to experiment with new things so it is always a ball.
      22. I would say do not be afraid to get out there with spanish speakers and engage them in conversation. One nice tip i may have for you is to try and spend time with kids who speak the language. Kids are really good at teaching and will help you to understand the language without really judging you.
      23. I think that being able to command the english language and express my heart is the real definition of freedom of expression. What does the phrase freedom of expression mean to you?
      24. Do you see a point in learning a lot of languages. I think that it may at times be useful, but overall it does not really add a lot in terms of life value to me.
      25. My parents are not so sentimental and they cannot recall what when or where i said my first words and so this was sad for me to find out. But i guess i cannot really blame them. It really is not so special. You just want them to start speaking as soon as, and when they do, you forgot that they couldnt.
