Do you watch any TV shows/movies in the language you are learning?
jfab replied to leahcim132's topic in Language Learning
I am watching some Tagalog Movies actually because I want to be fluent with my Filipino. I still can't watch their TV shows because I don't have time for it. But the movies are good practice especially with sub titles. -
I'm seeing a lot of different reactions here. But for me, it is important in a way that it should be understandable. Not really to embarrass people if they don't know much about it.

It could be difficult indeed to learn a sign language depending on which area you are living. But then again, it could be easy if you do it your own way. The technical stuff are most difficult than the practical ones if you know what I mean.

I think English is still good for swearing. Sometimes it's not even offensive. It's even funny. So I guess it can even turn out less offensive.
-
I won't complain at all if it's English. But right now I think somehow this is the case. It is the universal language in my opinion. I mean this is used in business most of the time and it doesn't matter which country you are in.

Music is definitely a good venue to learn a new language or even master one. This technique is actually not a bad idea at all. I would love to master some Shakespeare for sure.

the three magic ingredients for learning / mastering a language
jfab replied to linguaholic's topic in Language Learning
These are true. These 3 are indeed key ingredients. I would like to add that diligence and having a good study habits on this matter will make you learn and master a language in no time. -
At first, it wasn't such a big deal. But seriously, even punctuations go a long way when it comes to meanings. So it's best to be careful and be on point on this matter.

Are You More Comfortable Writing In Your Native Language?
jfab replied to Baburra's topic in Language Learning
English is my native language and it could go technical when it comes to writing. I'm comfortable doing it so far. But there are definitely rules on it that could just be difficult sometimes. -
Very interesting. I often dream that I speak German. It is really weird for me to be honest.

Do you ever forget some words in your native language?
jfab replied to Qamra's topic in Language Learning
As a matter of fact I do. There are times that I will really need to find a dictionary to look for it. It happens if it's your native tongue. -
Is It Possible, in Middle Age, To Become Proficient in a Language?
jfab replied to cinderr's topic in Language Learning
Anything is possible if you really put your mind to it. No matter what age you are, you can totally be proficient in any language that you will decide to learn. It's all up to your desire and persuasion to it. -
Interesting topic. I think yes that this is possible as languages continue to evolve. I mean the slangs are enough proof for this.

What are the best languages to learn for the future and why?
jfab replied to yellowbird's topic in Language Learning
I seriously think that people should master the English language because it's the language that will remain. It is going to be used a lot in business so it's best that you practice this well as early as now. This is serious. -

Dead languages // Is the study of 'dead' languages useful or not?
jfab replied to Mafdet's topic in Language Learning
I used to know a little about latin. But I don't really find them useful now. There is no point for me to learn at least now. -
Both are correct and yes, the British way to say it is with a T! There are many words like this though and oftentimes thought as wrong.
