I like that they are trying to speak my language. It doesn't matter to me if they are fluent on it really. As long as they try.

When A Website Is In A Language That You Don't Understand
jfab replied to Lin's topic in Language Learning
Chrome has a feature where in you can click to translate the website to your desired language. And that's what I do when I don't understand the site I land on. I love Google for that. -
It is quite possible to learn a new language with music. It doesn't have to be understood right away but eventually, you would. I would love to try this to myself as well.

Difference of learning a new language from your native language
jfab replied to xxxxxx's topic in Language Learning
It is fun! And it will broaden your mind and it will make you more intrigued on learning more. I love learning a new language, that's from the heart. -
How difficult is it to learn a different dialect?
jfab replied to g2narat's topic in Language Learning
I'm still having a hard time learning Tagalog. But I would bet that it's going to be more hard to speak another dialect. I will definitely check that out though. -
It depends on the language. And it also depends on the level of interest the person has to learn it. These are crucial matters.

This depends on the individual I believe. Some people can learn fast with groups involved because they can interact with each other. Others choose it 1 on 1. I do love a group session though.

What is Hardest- Reading, Writing, or Speaking?
jfab replied to tulosai's topic in Language Learning
If it's a new language I'm just starting to learn, I definitely find it hard to write the language. Speaking is easy because I could easily mimic it. It's the writing and the technicalities involved with it that's hard. -
Do you think online tutorials are effective?
jfab replied to Judhie's topic in English Language | Discussion
This is so far going on successful these days. Koreans and other asian countries are learning through this now! I can see why it's helping because it's totally convenient now with skype! -
Do you care what others think about the way you talk?
jfab replied to rossonomous's topic in English Language | Discussion
Not really. I accept myself for who I am and if they don't like the way I talk, then that's actually their problem. Not mine. -
At what age did you start learning English?
jfab replied to Medza's topic in English Language | Discussion
English is my first language so I learned it when I was starting to speak. I didn't talk immediately though when I was a kid my mom even thought I was deaf because I was silent. But eventually, I learned and spoke. -
Do you over use "LOL" when you write to your friends?
jfab replied to Jaxter's topic in English Language | Discussion
I am so guilty of this. I mean, is there anyone these days who text without using it? Sometimes I even add that even when I didn't really laughed out loud. LOL (Okay I think I just did it.) -
Are Native speakers really that good at their language?
jfab replied to Denis Hard's topic in Language Learning
Oh I am so guilty of this! I speak my native tongue fluently but there are pointers in grammar that I am actually not aware. And yes, I kind of am bad when it comes to spelling. LOL -
Is it hard to remember the alphabet in your second language?
jfab replied to ilikemoney420's topic in Language Learning
English is my language so definitely not. But I could just imagine the pain of memorizing the ones in Chinese! Or Egyptian. I am intrigued to learn though. -
Google Translate: Why It's No Match for Learning A Language
jfab replied to True2marie's topic in Language Learning
I wish Google would actually update Google Translate because it's super not accurate! I'd rather go for the dictionary or some other translating site if I want to translate something. It's funny how some words turn out there though. -
For me, as long as the message can be stated and understood I couldn't care less about the grammar. I'm not really one of those grammar nazis. We convey to be understood and not be judged on how bad our speech is.

Non-fiction for me have always been appealing than fiction story. Why? Because this is the real deal. Like you can learn real facts and apply it to your life on a daily basis. I love non-fiction so much that I keep a handful of them in my mini library.

If you seek wisdom and good motivation to live, try to look for the book Master Key System. I forgot who the author is but it's a really good one. You will learn the methods of martial arts and how you can apply that in everyday living.

As a seventeen year old, what book should I read?
jfab replied to scottman's topic in English Literature
I say stay away from Twilight that's for sure. LOL But if you seek wisdom and depth in life, I say go for CS Lewis. All his books are gold. -
Do you use your first or second language more often?
jfab replied to Thrix's topic in Language Learning
I always use my first language which is English whenever I communicate to people. It's hard to communicate still using other languages that I have learned. This is so far proven effective to me. -
Unfortunately no. But I would love to be. I think it's going to be easier to learn when I have that. This is a good suggestion.
