Do I really need this kind of thing now? I have always been able to watch all the videos from those platforms without a special plug-in. I guess it depends on the country you are living at. I am living in Switzerland and youku, tudou and so on always worked fine for me. Even PPTV and PPS :grin:

As others have mentioned above, there isn't one universal sign language. Even in Switzerland alone there are many different types of sign language. At first I was really surprised, as I also had this thought that maybe there could be a universal sign language or maybe at least one dominant European Sign Language, a major american one and maybe an Asian standard. I've also heard about the fiasco at Nelson Mandelas memorial service but I have yet to see the video! Thank you for providing the link, I will definitely give it a go.

I am living in Switzerland and we have 4 official languages here: German, French, Italian and a special variant of Romanian. English is not an official language here, however most of the people are able to speak in English as well (English is compulsory in school all over Switzerland).

I personally enjoy Enka music. It does not help me so much in my Japanese studies, however I just really like this kind of music. If you don't know about Enka, you can find lots of it on Youtube while searching for 演歌. There is a really nice Enka song in the world famous film "Kill Bill" and it is called "The flower of carnage". You should check this one out as well. It's great!

Hi there Well first of all I would like to say that I did not yet test the Chinese version of Rosetta Stone. However, I had the chance to test several different versions of Rosetta Stone and I have to say that it is a useful tool for beginners. Still, I do believe that there are enough nice and free language resources out there when it comes to the study of Chinese and therefore I would not be willing to pay money for something like Rosetta Stone. I don't know about specific vocabulary, however in my opinion, you should see that you get those articles right (Der, Die, Das). There is no general rule for this, so this makes it really difficult to master them..and believe me, most foreigners that I know who are studying German are really struggling with the different articles. Some of my friends have been studying German for years (3-7 years) and they still can't get the articles right...it is more of a detail and not extremely important but if you can get them right, this will really impress German native speakers and it really shows that you master the language :grin:

Hey Kilat It's nice to have another Polyglot here in the forum! I can see you speak a lot of languages! That's really great and I envy you a little. Hmm, I currently speak 4 languages...that's a good start as well, I guess. I wanna learn Japanese and Spanish in the near future. Spanish will be rather easy as I already speak french. Japanese is pretty difficult though and it is not similar to Chinese at all (well, the Japanese use Chinese characters along with Kana but that's it then..at least this makes reading and writing less difficult, however the Japanese Grammar is really challenging).

Actually Einstein was really bad when it comes to languages. He was really struggling with French he was definitely no super-brain when it comes to learning/mastering languages.

There are those two words "sick" and "ill". :=) Young people like to use those two words in a positive way. For instance, if they think Eminem is a great rapper, they will say : "He is so sick" or "He is really ill". Another word you can use like this is the word shit. So, some people go like, "He's the shit man!", which actually means that they like him/his style.

I have a Mac Book, therefore I just activated the Japanese language "set" and then it is very easy to input Kanji (Romaji input) and Kana. How about you?

I get your point Peninha, However I still think it should be "I wish I were" because the were is used to express the "conditional" here. We might get some opinions of some native-speakers soon..I'm curious to hear about everyone's opinion.

I am always confused about the use of have/take when it comes to the nouns shower/bath. Could someone please explain the correct use with those? Is it to have/take a shower and is it to have/take a bath? :wacky:

What is correct? I wish I was or I wish I were? Or maybe both of them are possible? I would be glad if someone could explain this to me and maybe provide a sample sentence or two. Thank you!

Excellent choice Kotro! I really like Christoph Waltz. His language skills are great and he really is one of the best actors at the moment! I loved his performance in Inglorious Bastards and in Django! Just superb.

Another beautiful french word is Papillon. The french word papillon stands for Butterfly. The word "Papillon" actually comes from the Latin word "papilionem".

So when talking to elders you always use "저(Jur)", even when it is your grandfather? Because the grandfather is usually a person who is very close to you AND he is an elder, so the answer for me here was not very easy at first. However, I have seen that the answer to Question 1 is 2, therefore I guess I will have to call him "저(Jur)" :grin:
