Are you talking about teaching online or like actualy face-to-face teaching? The rate per hour really depends on which country you're teaching in, what language you're teaching, and the demand for the language. In America, private English teachers are only paid around $12USD an hour to have a one-to-one session with students. In Hong Kong, however, rates are around $28USD and can even go higher depending on the status of the teacher. So how much you earn really depends on those 3 factors.

I've never seen anyone write/spell out "registeration" before, but I can understand why people would make this mistake. Is this a common mistake anywhere though?

I don't think people mix these two up when they speak but when they write/type, then maybe it's easier to mix them up.

It's also interesting how we can never get a "correct" translation of a proverb. Even if it's a direct translation, the feeling and the message conveyed is just different.

I've never made that mistake, lol. Mainly because I very rarely use the word "massages". I do see why people mix them up though.

This is a great idea. I also learned English that way. My teacher would tell my class to write a story about anything and then she would correct it for us. We made them into little books and read them aloud to the class. Writing stories is a great activity and really helps with improving grammar and sentence structure.

I'm someone who can't stand audio books. They put me to sleep almost instantly. I much much MUCH prefer to read on my own.

My college doesn't offer it. There's just simply not enough resources to start a Korean class. I think most people would be interested in learning Korean because of the Hallyu wave. Very few are actually interested in the language itself though; it's more like the culture they appreciate.

I think it's just a copy and paste error. And I agree with you that "如果你找到了一份你热爱的工作，你一生中的任何一天都不是在工作中度过的" sounds too modern to be a saying from Confucious.

What I do is after my friend is done speaking, I'll give them a confused look. That way they'll realize that I don't understand something. Then I'll repeat the word they mispronounced and they'll usually repeat it with me to reassure me that that's the correct word. It's not really directly telling them they misprounced a word, but it helps when they notice that others can't understand them.

Since I live in America, English is not only a part of my education. It's my WHOLE education.

Pen in that case doesn't refer to a writing utensil. A pen is like a fence that surrounds the sheeps. So if you don't fix the pen (fence), the sheeps will run away.

I think it's worth knowing at least 2 languages, your native tongue and another foreign language. Then depending on your job/where you want to go in life, it might be wise to learn even more languages.

^That + English doesn't always have a rule for spelling. And when they do there are ALWAYS exceptions. I have lived in America for a long time and those exceptions still trip me up.

Instead of laughing at me, my friends try to correct me <3 But when I catch people in class giggling at my accent, I do feel a bit embarrassed :ninja:

I learned Hiragana when I took my first Japanese class. However, hiragana is simple enough to learn by itself. If you don't have the time to take a class, just look on the internet and you can easily learn hiragana by yourself.

Interesting! I can read Kanji fine, but I'm going to try reading these Hiragana stories anyway XD

Online tutorials are not effective for me because I get distracted easily. I will browse the internet while watching/reading the tutorial so I don't actaully learn from it. It's effective for some people though. In the end, it depends on the person who's using the online tutorial.

Children's textbooks seem like a good start. I'm going to need something that has English and Korean though because I don't know any Korean right now.
