  1. I would say Australia and English (Standard) are my favorite English accent. I remember I have a customer who's an Australian, and the way she speaks English is very nice. I like her accent a lot, which sounds unique.
  2. I do! However, I think I like the way I speak, which I still have a tiny accent when I speak English. I think as long as people understand what I say, it doesn't really matter if I have a native tongue or not.
  3. It depends on where do you live in the future. I would say English and Spanish are the best languages to learn for the future because they are the most common languages in a lot of countries. English has become the universal language in most countries because people are taught to learn English. Spanish is also one of the popular languages in some countries because that's what people pick for the second language. Both English and Spanish are very useful.
  4. It's true! I live in the United States, and it's considered a Slangy country because there are a lot of people use Slang words. I sometimes use Slang words, but only when I talk to my friends because it's part of our way of communication. I don't use Slang words with other people because I want to be professional. It's really sad that Slang words are well-used in the United States.
  5. I don't think colleges should require students to take a foreign language. It's totally a personal preference because it depends on what major the students are focusing. Students aren't required to learn a foreign language on some of the majors because their focus aren't on communication. I would think students are required to learn a foreign language only if they want to reside in a new country or if they will be doing business internationally.
  6. There are two languages are attractive to me: British English and French. I like the sound of British English because when people speak, they sound beautiful. I have learned French in high school, which is hard for me. I like French because the dialogue sounds pretty to me.
  7. Wow, does it happen to a lot of men? It sure is a nice quote. Thank you for sharing!
  8. I have noticed this too because some of the elderly people ask me what does LOL mean. The newer generation use LOL a lot because that is part of the base conversation style.
  9. I have a customer who is a European, and the way she speaks English is very different. I like her accent because she sounds unique.
  10. I would say French because it is a beautiful language. I have learned French in high school, but I dropped out the class after 2 months because it was difficult for me to learn. I like the sound of it because the dialogue is very unique in its way.
  11. I agree. Speaking is much harder than writing and reading. I think speaking takes a lot of practices because in order to speak fluently, you have to know the language very well. I do see a lot of people, whose English isn't their first language, speak very well. Is French hard? I have learned French when I was in high school. I think it is very difficult to learn.
  12. I would go with your first sentence because it makes more sense and is grammatically correct. However, I would either cross out "people" or "children" in your first sentence because that will make more sense to me. Here's are the examples: They are such kind people. OR They are such kind children.
  13. You're right! Most of us don't know about this because some people don't pay attention to the subject and tense. I don't think your last sentence need a comma to make the sentence sound right. I do see if the subject, which is the third person, is single, then IS will be used as the verb tense. A boy along with two girls IS going to school. That's grammatically acceptable.
  14. I think the hardest part of learning English is to enunciate the words like most American people do. I have a little accent when I speak English because English is not my native language. I try to speak as close as American people, and I have learned to say each word slowly so people can understand me better.
  15. I'm always stressed about any exam because I will get nervous every time I have an upcoming exam. I don't know the reason behind it, but I still get nervous even though I'm well-prepared. I am not a big fan of multiple-choice exam, plus I always change my mind once I have selected my initial answer.
  16. I agree! Emily Bronte's "Wuthering Heights" is one of my all-time favorite English classic novels I have read. I like the story and the characters are well-written.
  17. I usually use the online dictionary website called Dictionary. It is free and offers a lot of information on a word such as synonym, antonym, sentence example, pronunciation, word history and origin, translation, and so on. It is a great website because I can search any word I want. It is also a convenient way to search for words because it is easier to use than a paperback dictionary. The Dictionary has an application for both IPhone and Android devices, which is a great way to look for new words on-the-go.
  18. Me too! I have always studied in a group. I like it that way because I would have a chance to discuss with my colleagues and ask questions. I usually study on my own when I write and read by myself.
  19. There are a few English words I have trouble spelling such as Convenience and Syllabus. I often spell Convenience in a wrong way, which I would forget the "i". Syllabus, for instance, I have trouble spelling it because I usually mistakenly use "m" instead of "y".
  20. I am with you. I would read slow because I want to make sure I understand the story or document, so I won't have to repeat when there's something wrong.
  21. There are a lot of words I know but never get to use. For instance, there are a lot of medical vocabularies I know but I don't even use them at all. I only use them when I study for the continuing education courses, which is less likely that they will pop up in front of my head.
  22. I agree! I think the word 'strawberry' sound very sweet. There is something about the word that sounds unique. I also like the word 'berry'. It is probably the main reason I like the word.
  23. I have noticed for those who have learned English when they were young and were fluent after two years or so. I learned English when I was in elementary school, which I was required although English wasn't my first language.
  24. :sweating: I remember when I took a Reading class in high school, I was taught speed reading. I had to read 20 pages in 30 minutes, which was too difficult for me because I didn't quite enjoy the story much.
  25. An hour is the correct use in American writing because the O considers a vowel. Always use "an" when there is a word before the vowel.
