Would You Rather is a simple conversation game: someone asks a question with two options, and everyone has to pick one — no “both” and no “neither”. Would you rather be able to fly or be invisible? Eat pizza every day or never again? The fun is not the answer but the why, which is why it works for parties, road trips, classrooms, family dinners, and first dates alike.

How to play

  1. Pick your categories (or keep them all) and read the question out loud.
  2. Everyone chooses an option. On one phone, each player taps their answer to add a vote.
  3. Take turns explaining your choice — the best reason wins the round, if you’re keeping score.

Ways to play

The game is a favorite in language classes because it practices a useful structure: would rather + base verb. Answer in full sentences — “I would rather live by the beach because I love swimming” — and try the negative form too: “I’d rather not eat bugs!” Note that “would rather” is followed by the base form of the verb (not “to”), and that “I’d rather” is the everyday contraction.
