I am Swiss. Would you consider people from Switzerland speaking High German as foreigners learning German? You probably wouldn't right. However, not all the Swiss people speak very Good High German. We learn it in school and sometimes use it at work, however at home and on mobile phones and so on we use Swiss German (or one of the other official Swiss languages namely French, Italian or Romansh). Especially when it comes to pronounciation lots Swiss speakers are a little bit off and pronounce words in a pretty different way :=) Moreover Swiss people use a lot of archaic words and mix lots of foreign vocabulary (mainly french) into the German language while speaking.

Hey Graham Wow, it looks like you are attacking a lot of different (new) languages at the same time. And therefore my tip would be: It might make more sense to focus at one specific language at a time, rather than studying 3-4 at the same time. I remember a time where I was studying Chinese and Japanese at the same time and this was a little bit overwhelming as well. What is your motivation to start all this languages. Sometimes it helps to formulate for yourself what is actually your aim by studying all these languages. and then you can simply focus most on those languages where you were able to formulate a specific goal for. At least for myself, I noticed that sometimes I started learning a new language but in the end I couldn't keep up long term motivation because I simply did not have specific goals that I wanted to achieve and no specific reasons I needed that language for. So for instance now I live in China and I use Chinese on a daily basis in my job/career. So this really helps me to keep up the motivation to improve my Chinese skills because I really do need Chinese in my daily life and therefore it does make a lot of sense to improve my chinese whenever I can. I think you understand what I mean. So sometimes less might be more! Best of luck in in your language learning endeavours and I hope linguaholic can help you on your language learning journey!

Hi hrup There is no such thing as "möchtete". It is just plain wrong. Could you show me that source? If you would like to use it in Präteritum, "wollte" is the right form to use. "möchten" can be Konjunktiv II that is true, however it can also be "Präsens" in 3rd Person Plural "Wir möchten nun gerne essen gehen". Kind regards, L PS: And very warm welcome to Linguaholic. In fact I asked my colleague now and she is certain that 并且 is also acceptable here. But it is even better if you are using it with 也 together: 他是我哥哥，并且也是我最好的朋友 Bingqie alone is generally rather written Chinese and pretty formal, wherease bingqie and ye combined is more close to oral Chinese.

So I guess your translation 'te adoro' and the other translations that you provided "Eres mi todo, eres mi adoración, me gusta todo de ti, eres lo que yo más adoro, etc, etc." all are very useful and sound appropriate. Hey Maarten Thank you for this interesting question. In order to explain these grammatical questions, you would really need to have a closer look at the linguistics of both languages and compare the use of time & aspect forms in both languages. I am sure you can find a comparative linguistics study about English and Dutch and maybe even about Dutch and Macedonian. The latter would probably be easier to understand for your girlfriend, as I guess her first language might be Macedonian? As for different study methods....I would first like to know...are you also studying Macedonian in return? I will try to think about some nice study methods.
