  1. It does sound fraudulent . if a new language can be learnt in 10 days then I should be fluent in French having taken it in high school and several classes over the years. I'm not buying it. I would have to see it to believe it.
  2. I have spent several hours studying many subjects but not a particular language. I don't think that I have gone past three hours and that is in a group setting :beaten:. I really don't know how others do it but I would surely fall asleep or just get bored :bored:.
  3. My suggestion would be to just try your best to keep focused and don't be detered by the fact that your brain is flipping into Spanish. Also, do all the oral communications that you can in French.
  4. Although I am not fluent in either languages, but I truly enjoyed learning French to Spanish. I believe that for a person to enjoy learning anything there has to be some passion or interest for it. Try to focus on just learning Dutch and not the fact that you are not enjoying it. best of luck .

  6. Keep on encouraging your family member of the importance of having a solid English skill but don't be surprised if he doesn't change. He may not see the need to right now. Maybe someday when it is really required of him or he's been embarassed by yhe lack of it.

  10. I am never ashamed to speak a foreign language around natives of that tongue . For the better part, it brings life to the setting and in the end, I sometimes learn something new .
  11. I would say that the top three languages in the world are English, Spanish and French.For the latter though, if considering the business world, then Mandarin would certainly replace French.

  13. My favorite short story would be one from my childhood, Hansel and Gretel , for their wisdom and perseverance that brought them deliverance :angel:.
  14. I would have to say that my favorite science-fiction author is Lemony Snicket . I've read some of the series of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" a while back. Very captivating,just haven't had the opportunity to read them all.
  15. It does seem as though it is a big issue for everyone as it was for me to read Shakespear's novels. I read them in high school but never the entire book. The teacher gave us different scenes to read which to me made it much easier to appreciate .
  16. I have only read two of Charles Dickens work, Oliver Twist and Great Expectations. My favourits though is Great Expectations which I read a long time ago in 9th grade .
  17. Is this person even living in the real world . This sounds rather pointless and unintelligent. Then again, It's his opinion. But is he saying that whatever knowledge you have of something unrelated to your race you should impart it to someone of that race to write about it for you :speechless:?
  18. My favorite bilingual celebrity is Jessica Lopez :love:. she can really act, sing and dance. That somehow puts her above alot of other celebrity.
  19. I sure have but that's been years ago in high school. There was a group of five of us and we would both write and speak in codes all the time . We did create some foes along the way though because I guess it was a bit annoying to them .

  21. For business persons, being bilingual would probably be a good thing as it good actually increase business. However, I should think that there are more successful business people that know just one language than those that are bilingual.
  22. I've never really heard anyone use the term before. It could be that they don't know better or that it is a family or region practice done informally :doubtful:. Hopeful, users of this forum have learnt something or are been reminded of the correct word to use when requesting something be saved.
  23. My favorite songs in Spanish are Christmas Carols :love:.They somehow sound more heartwarming and joyful in Spanish when compared to the English version .
  24. I have never used an electronic dictionary. How long ago was that? It does sound useful but a bit of the past. Today everthing can be done from the net so that cool.
  25. I wouldn't mind having a tutor but I wouldn'nt actually pay for one unless I was considering using the language for something major, like getting a job. There is so much to learn on the net plus I study with friends so we coach each other .
