  1. I don't get frustrated with language interplay. I actually get excited and it gets me going and on the hype. With exception to Chinese and Korean, those kinds of language really infuriate me. It's like a couple of Chickens talking. No offense though XD
  2. All the Languages that I know, I mastered it at least that's what I think. With the exception for Ifontok since I never grew up in Bontoc, I grew up in Baguio. Filipino terms are also one of my weakness, I find English my second language easier to go with rather than our National language which is Filipino.
  3. I wouldn't teach my children a second language if I had any. Although English is an exception because almost all Filipinos are fluent English speakers and that competition in an early age is a good thing for children as it was the case for me.
  4. I'm planning to do the same maybe when I have my vacation. Amazon and other sites who advertise is a great way to publish your ebook. Go through boards especially local one's that relate to the ebook that you will publish and post them there. Amazon is the best way currently as of today to publish an ebook.
  5. I don't think so. I have made great poems when I was in high-school yet I didn't break any rules in grammar or tenses for that matter. Poetry should enhance the way we understand and speak English and not deprive it of it's form.
  6. Words come out from me naturally especially when I am speaking and talking about an interest of mine. I am very fluent in speaking the topics I like. Debate is a good way for me to show my thinking and speaking skills and it gets me hyped up every time.
  7. I think German and other words which emphasize the intonation and the tone of the voice is a good language for cursing as if it was really built for that use XD. Ilocano which is one of my native language is also a good language for such matters and is hilarious when people say bad words using this language.
  8. I haven't really used video games for language learning although I'm learning new words through playing video games either through the characters or through other circumstances. I usually focus on the gaming part instead of the reading that's why I don't think it would be effective for me to learn another language through video games although I'm going to try it next time.
  9. Yes. Body language a very good way of communicating specially with people who cannot understand the language that you are speaking. More and more people are deciphering the code of body language a language worth using.
  10. I believe I'm a good listener. I learn more things by listening than memorizing and reading. Although for the things which I am interested in, reading them really works for me. I used to enjoy listening more than reading but now I am seeing the advantages of doing both.
  11. English songs are the best way and the most creative way to learn music. Specially for the songs which are sung on a very good pace and from a fluent English singer. I learned English and had the most wonderful time by listening to Hillsong which is an Australian worship team or band. It really is good to listen to music which has sense rather than those which have no sense at all.
  12. Yes. We Filipinos love to do that. Have you ever heard of Taglish? It's a mixture of Tagalog and English. Most Filipinos, especially the uneducated ones, use a mixture of our language and English which sometimes can be pretty annoying and hard on the ears. There are a few instances when Taglish is actually good to hear and can really make matters more understandable especially since some English terms cannot really be translated in Tagalog.
  13. Yes. Speaking English too fast is really hard for those who are new and are learning the language. A Korean here in the Philippines who is a Pastor told us in a meeting regarding sending missionaries in Asia that Filipinos are the best speakers of English. We were all grateful and a bit embarrassed since there were American Pastors who were listening. I think the reason people like Filipinos to teach English is mostly because of our Patience and Kindness to foreigners because it is mostly found in our culture. Being patient with a student is the key to letting him grasp the knowledge that you are portraying and handing over to him.
  14. I totally believe it because I'm also a Bible based Christian and this is not simply a tale or a story. Due to the People's wickedness and wanted to become higher than God, God really intended for us to be a family with one culture but ever since all of us were scattered and had different languages. Right now, the world is again rebuilding the tower of babel as they venture into knowledge and the thinking that we can be like God. Pretty soon God will judge again. We can see the reality of English becoming a universal language once again which would unite all nations and create a perfect society and act like God once more.
  15. That's a nice find. Although for us here in the Philippines, Pajero means car. I had no idea it was used as a naughty word in Spain. Especially since we were under the rule of Spain for more than 300 years.
  16. I haven't actually had a dream which involves speaking another language. Most of the time my dreams are just running, motions and actions. I seldom dream speaking and in these dreams I am either shouting or crying or some other intense emotion.
  17. I totally agree with you on the Philippines, and the reason why they have that saying is because most if not all officials are corrupt and have stolen money from the people either in millions or trillions of pesos while the people are starving and going abroad for work.
  18. No. The thought that comes to mind when learning a new language is for the purpose of being better and it's like having a new skill that you can brag about. It just seems nice to learn a new language and have the chance to show it off to your friends. XD
  19. No. When I saw the post in Facebook saying that "LOL" is used by satanists for devil worship I stopped using the word LOL. LOL according to the post means " Lucifer our Lord".
  20. I never drank alcohol. I have a classmate who they claim to have increased knowledge and fluency when he is drunk. We also have one employee who speaks in straight English when he is drunk. Maybe it enables something in their brain that makes them shameless or something.
  21. It's funny why I don't have an accent given that I'm not a native speaker of English. Maybe it's the way I memorize and mimic the correct pronunciation of words whether English, Filipino, or Ilocano which is why I pronounce the words correctly and accurately.
  22. That's funny. Well I guess everyone experienced it for once in their lifetime.
  23. Exactly. It's a memory issue and not one involving vocabulary or knowledge.
  24. Manslaughter, because slaughter is pronounced as slohter while laughter is pronounced as lafter.
  25. Language is the main and recognized form of speech. Dialects are part of the main language spoken but deviates from the original language either through pronunciation, accent, use of words, meaning and the like. Language is the recognized form of speaking a particular tongue and dialects are part of the the language which differ accordingly.
