I taught once a Korean student and so far, it was fun for me. I just taught her the basics. I would love to do it all over again.

Breaking Bad (SPOILERS)
jfab replied to Hemingway's topic in English Lounge - Conversations in English only
I think it's definitely one of the best series on TV! And honestly I have no clue on what could be the season ender. They have a way on putting a real good twist! -
English practice
jfab replied to caparica007's topic in English Lounge - Conversations in English only
The only way to become good at something is really to practice it. So it doesn't matter if you are not that fluent now. If you practice everyday, you will nail it soon. Talk to anyone who speaks well regularly and you will see what I'm talking about here. -
Stereotypes About Native English Speakers
jfab replied to eruvande's topic in English Lounge - Conversations in English only
One stereotype is that most people think native English speakers are perfect in their language when the truth is no! They also make mistakes especially with their grammar and spelling! You can even ask them that although they will just deny it haha. -
Haha I do like it when people call me nerd. It's actually more of a compliment for me than an insult. I'm like thanks! haha

Cancelled is right. It's a common spelling mistake from people. Just like with traveling. They double the L sometimes on that word.
-
I really do love the word love. It does roll off the tongue for me. And I for some reason there is realness in this word.
-
When did you start to become a language enthusiast? And what's the first language outside your native tongue did you learn? And why?
-
What do you think is the easiest way to learn a new language aside from the internet? And also not that expensive. Language schools could be pricey.

What are your thoughts on google translate?
jfab replied to Cutler4Life's topic in Translations (Theory & Practice)
I really wish they could update this feature. It's still very inaccurate. -
Because I would love to be someone who can talk in many different languages. I embrace diversity. And I definitely would love to travel.
-
This is a common grammar mistake. Your is a possessive pronoun. While you're is for You Are which is obviously a different grammar point.

Is it "The man who WALK the path of freedom" or "WALKS "?
jfab replied to CeliVega's topic in English Grammar
Walks is right because this is basic subject verb agreement rule. If the noun is singular, the verb is plural. -
Is it "ThousandS of documents" or "Thousand of documents"?
jfab replied to CeliVega's topic in English Grammar
I would say the first one is correct. Because if you are going to use the 2nd one, I think it has to be "A thousand documents." You need to add the "A" at the beginning. -
I think it's because of the whole texting generation. That definitely has affected the language or rather proper delivery of the language through messaging. It is kinda sad.
-
I have learned a new language through gaming because I get to talk to people from all over the world. It has really help me broaden my vocabulary. I love this generation.

You know/realize you are a language nerd, when......
jfab replied to deen the breen's topic in Language Learning
I have always been a nerd. But I have been nerding out with languages recently. I have to learn Tagalog very quick these days. -
I love traditional hard bound books and the thrill of going to bookstores to purchase them. I miss those days. I have never been a fan of ebooks.

Do you ever forget some words in your native language?
jfab replied to Qamra's topic in Language Learning
I am so guilty of this. I think we all are. I mean, even if it's your native tongue you can still forget some words in it. -
Did you have a pen pal in your foreign language class?
jfab replied to sayitwell's topic in Language Learning
I do but I didn't have it on my class though. I think I can still consider online friends from abroad pen pals right? Although it's more on email and chats these days. -
This is very true. I learned how to understand and speak a little bit of Japanese just by watching Anime. People should do this!
-
Inspiration. I mean if you're inspired to learn it, then it's going to be more fun. Especially if you get to talk to someone you love who speaks the language that is not your native tongue.
-
It has always been my first language which is english. It's easy for me because it's my native tongue. I wish I could think using other languages too.
-
Do you keep track of how large your vocabulary is?
jfab replied to Hedonologist's topic in Language Learning
I don't but now I'm thinking I should. This is a good way to be very well versed on the language. Great tip! -
Since this is the age of iPhones and smartphones, we now all have an app for that. It's still very handy to carry it with you when you are in a new country. It has helped me a lot.
