  1. There are many movies that I enjoyed watching. However, some of my favorite movies that are in my mind at this moment are: Scent of a Woman (featuring Al Pacino) and The Patriot (featuring Mel Gibson).
  2. Some of the common mistakes that amuse me are: Then and than There and Their No, I don't make these mistakes. However, when I see people making these mistakes, I am always amused. However, I never make fun of people because they are making mistakes in second language.
  3. I don't carry a print dictionary, actually, I have never carried a dictionary. Even when smartphones did not exist, I did not carry dictionary. I have apps on my handheld devices that help me with language such as translator apps and dictionary apps.
  4. My favorite quote from the movie is from The Last Samurai Emperor: Tell me how he died. Samurai Warrior (played by Tom Cruise): I will tell how he lived.
  5. I did not have time to go to a proper language school to learn the language. The boys were only interested to make fun.Thus, I avoided learning the language. However, at the end I managed to learn few sentences from the girls in my class.
  6. There is an interesting story in the Bible. Once people tried to built a ladder to reach heaven. Gods were frightened that human beings will reach heaven. They divided people in different groups. Now the people who were building the ladder did not understand each others language.They were confused and began to pick bones. The language division divided the people.
  7. I never try to learn the language just because it is very popular or creates opportunities for me. I try to learn the language that genuinely interests me. I have been reading about France and French culture since I was a child, thus, I took interest in French language. I am trying to hone my English language skills because I am fascinated with the development of English language. I love the language I am learning.

Foods that stimulate and sharpen the brain are fruits, vegetables, leafy vegetables, fresh juice (not canned juice), low carb diet, whole grains etc. You have to avoid spicy and oily foods that make you lethargic. Never take to any kind of addictions. Addictive substances such as cigarette, alcohol, marijuana and other substances make you dull. Milk products especially yogurt is very good for your body. Walnuts, cashew nuts, peanuts, fish oil are very good for brain development.
  9. I attended a college in India. Even though English was the teaching method, Kannada (a regional language in India) was in the primary language of the people in the town where my college was located. In order to acclimatize with the locals, I decided to learn the local language. My local friends were willing to help me. After learning few words and sentences, I was ready to test my language skills. However, I became a joke. The boys had taught me cruse words and vulgar sentences. This was so frustrating.
  10. If you want to translate few lines, couple of paragraphs, Google translation does help and it is a time saver. However, if you are doing lots of translation, it is time consuming to correct the text translated by Google. Usually Google translation is word to word translation, there will always grammatical mistakes.
  11. Oh really? Perhaps they were trying to teach me Konnichiwa but all I remembered was ni hao.
  12. I take interest in learning languages,however, I have never tried any website or apps. Thanks for recommending Pronunciator. I will first search this on Google and check it it is if any use to me. I will also check this on google play and try to learn English and French.
  13. I don't have any experience with this app, however, I want to try an app to make my English better as well as learn French. Does this app support English and French language learning? Is this available for Andriod? I have androd phone and want to have android specific apps.

  15. Grammarly is a language and grammar checker program. By paying for monthly subscription, you will have access to the service such as language checker, grammar checker, plagiarism checker etc. I have never used this program, however, my friends have suggested me that this is a good program not only for people who use English as a second language but also for people using English as a first language. Any thoughts on Grammarly?
  16. Google does good translation, however, you cannot completely rely on google translator. Most of the time the translation is word to word translation and the sentences do not make any sense. You can use Google translate to translate the text in your desired language, however, you will have do do manual correction of the translated text
  17. I read this quote recently: Don't laugh at people if they say it wrong, this means they learned by reading. I can relate to this quote because I learned English by reading English. I did not learn by speaking. Even when I speak English it is always with the people like me who are using it as a second language. Once when I was learning English in British Council, the language instructor advised me to watch BBC and try to follow their pronunciation. This has helped me.
  18. The first diplomatic relation that our home country ever had was with Britain. Diplomacy with United States started 50 years later. Since the government highly regarded Britain, it only only imported West Minister style governance model, but also English language. British language is officially accepted by our country. However, later people began traveling to the US and began using American English more. Currently, American English is used more in the media and British English is used more in schools and colleges.
  19. In our home country, English is the only foreign language that the government has accepted in the school and collage curriculum. You will have to study English from preschool to Bachelor's degree, and it is compulsory subject. I started school at the age of 3 and since then I began learning English.
  20. I am a writer based in Kathmandu, Nepal. I write on various websites. I also write for newspapers in Nepal. I have published two books on Amazon. My primary language is Nepal and English is my second language.I use Nepali in everyday communication and English as a working language. I learned English my studying, which means my spoken language is very bad. I am very interested in learning language. I am trying to learn French. I was once enrolled in a language school, however, stopped going to language class because I was having difficulty to manage my time. These days, I am self learning the language.
  21. I once had two Japanese friends. Their husbands were working in the Japanese embassy in my home country. Since they were having difficulty to converse with the locals, they were attending English language course in British Council, where I was also honing my English language skills. I was interested in two thing: one, learn how to use chop stick, and two, how to say nihow (I hope I spelled this right). I tried to learn couple of Japanese sentences such as "I love you," "I miss you" etc. sadly, I forgot the sentences too quickly.
