  1. I have never used Duolingo. From the description, it looks like a language app. Is this available on Andriod market, can it be used on windows device? Is this a free app or do we have to pay money to use it. What are the languages available on this app? I will have to check this app myself and see if it is useful for me.
  2. I have a dictionary app and a calendar app on my smartphone which have word of the day features, Every day these apps send notification about a new word. Sometimes I check the notification and learn the word, if it is new for me, and sometimes I dismiss the notification without reading the word. The have never used an online dictionary, I will check the link.
  3. As a person using English as a second language, I have identified couple of thing that helps us to speak English better. Watching BBC or CNN and paying attention to how they pronounce and trying to pronounce the words and sentences in the same manner. Recording your voice while you talk or read a passage. If you play the recording, you can identify the words where you made mistakes.
  4. When I was learning English language, my language instructor told me that reading loud helps you to learn the language in fast pace, reading loud will also help with the diction. Since then I have been reading loud to improve my language. I read loud all the while listening to what I am reading.
  5. Dogs of War by Fredric Forsyth is the first English novel I read. I was an eight grader. After I read the novel, I discovered that there is a movie based on this novel. I watched the movie and I liked it very much. Prior to Dogs of War I had read a Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, but it was an abridged version.
  6. I have downloaded this app on my phone. After installing this app,I tried to register, however, I could not. Perhaps there is bug on this app. Or is it because it does on work on all regions and location. I need to find out. If this is like whatsapp,it should be fine in my location. In will try to register on the app again.

  9. I read paperbacks, ebooks and well as listen to audiobooks. I read paperbacks more than ebooks and audio books. However, I have more ebooks than audio books and paperbacks. When I read, I like to turn the pages of book,thus I like reading paper books.However, paper books are costly and it is also difficult to store because you need space to store your print books. On the other hand it is easy to store ebooks and audio books.
  10. I have worked as a translator. I have translated prose and poetry, creative and non-creative work.In my experience, while translation poetry some of the original essence will be lost. I believe poetry cannot be translated 100 percent. In the case of fiction, whether there is loss of original essence depends on the translator's skills If a translator is adept, non-creative work does not lose any essence.
  11. I was not aware that sign language differ country to country, I believed it was a universal language. I thought sign language was same in every country. If the sign language of different countries is different, how much differences do they have? In don't know sign language however I have tried to learn some words by watching news in sign language. I know how to spell "King"
  12. I listen to English and Hindi music, mostly from Bollywood movies. Both of these languages are foreign to me. I love The Doors, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Amy Winehouse and Adele.
  13. Do you speak just one language, two languages or multiple languages. When I say speak, I don't mean stilted, or rudimentary skills, I mean fluency in the languages. I am multilingual, I can speak Nepali, English and Hindi well. My French skills are rudimentary.

  17. Learning language depends on your interest and ability. There is no such language as easy to learn language or hard to learn language. However, when the language you want to learn is on the same language family (your spoken language), it becomes little easy to learn another language. For example, if you know Hindi, you will find easy to learn Sanskrit.
  18. I checked this website. It is certainly a good platform to learn languages. The website offers easy ways to learn various languages. The courses are built for the beginners as well as for those who are already learning the language.
  19. The best way to learn any language is through audio visual media. It was easy for me to hone my English skill by watching the BBC channel or listening to BBC radio rather than attending English class. Another way to improve language skill is to read loud.

  23. When you are not using Google Translator, do you use any other translation app. Do you know any translation app that is more accurate than Google Translation. I want a translation app that can translate English in Nepali language.
  24. Hindi language originated from Sanskrit. There are two versions of Sanskrit, one is the type that is used in ancient Hindu theologies, and another is the one that is commonly used in the interpretation of Sanskrit canon, or taught in modern language schools. Ancient Sanskrit is very difficult,however, the modern Sanskrit is more difficult that Hindi language. There are different versions of Hindi language, the most common is the Network standard, which is used by media and the people in the urban areas in North India.
