  1. I found some music videos online. They are rap songs that contain bits of grammar lessons. I found them entertaining and quite fun but the lessons did not stick to my memory that well. I soon forgot everything when I stopped singing those songs maybe because I am not into rap music as it makes remembering more difficult for me.
  2. I think it will help anyone who wants to learn a new language. I know a graded reader is focused on the learning process than the enjoyment of reading itself. If you were able to find one then good because not every book is intended to teach you how to learn a foreign language.
  3. I seldom talk in my dreams base from what I can remember. Although when I was still in school I know I was dreaming and speaking in a different language. This happens usually when I am preparing for an exam. I am not aware but my mom says she hears me talk in my sleep, I felt embarrassed because I might have said something off in my dreams.
  4. I think they will still remember their native language no matter what. They are 18 and or 21, we are not talking about children below 5 who will really forget about their native tongue should they migrate to a foreign country and live there. In my case, I moved to another place in my country and the people have a different dialect. There is no opportunity for me to use my own language for ten years but that did not make me forget about it. I still process my thoughts using my native language that is.
  5. Is there a simple way to learn this? How did you guys manage to remember all these? I think this level is not readily available on free online language learning sites am I right?
  6. This would be very difficult for me to be in. How can communicate and understand someone using a foreign language and would not even compromise? This is going to be chaotic and not helpful at all. Looks like a torture and more of punitive than inspiring. This is not going to work for me.
  7. If you read a book, blog or online articles, I think you have more vocabularies to encounter than listening to music or anything that does not have a written text. That is how I learn I got to have something to read or some texts to rely on so that I can go back to them later for my review. I think that would depend on what kind of a learner are you.
  8. We also have that letter N with a special character on top of it. I think that was unique. I would like to believe that we got it from the Spanish language my country being a colony of Spain for 333 years. Another unique thing about Filipino language is we have the letters Ng together. I am not sure if other languages use it at the beginning of a word because we normally see it at the end like in the words bring, sing, slang etc.
  9. I can tell that you like Norwegian just by reading through your post. Why not go for it you said it yourself it will be quite an easier transition. Japanese on the other hand is very difficult for me just by looking at those characters. You have some issues as you have said so go for the one that is easier for you.
  10. It depends where we are located or if we have plans of relocating soon. It would be better for the child to learn a second language in an environment where he can use it on a daily basis to facilitate better learning. That way the child's effort to learn may not be put to waste because he or she can apply what he learned right away.
  11. My goal this year is learn a new language I am not particular if it is Finnish or what. I just want to learn new things or do new stuff. If it is indeed an easy language to learn then I will consider learning this language. Right now I am having some challenges learning French and Spanish so I might settle for something easier.
  12. It is very easy to speak the language in general but difficult to write it, Why? When you speak you do not worry about the spelling or punctuation and so on. If ever you made a mistake you can correct yourself right away. Unlike when you right you have to consider all the rules like spelling, punctuation, tenses etc. I guess that applies to all languages not just English
  13. It could be easy to acquire because a lot of people use it as a means of communication. It is everywhere somewhat universal if I may say so. Although in reality if you study the rules and grammar of the English language, you will notice that it is quite complicated. It is not pretty straight forward compared with other dialects or languages we know.
  14. I think I remember back in school days that we were taught about the use of a space after the said punctuations. I guess people or some people do not really recognize the difference whether you followed this simple rule or not. They pay more attention to the obvious but this is a great reminder for me.
  15. I used to send text messages before with shortcuts because of the limited number of characters allowed and I do not have the patience to compose long messages. I thought the shortcuts were made to make it more convenient little did I know that I was slowly forgetting the right spelling of words and decided that I should be doing it the right way.
  16. The intention may be good but the way of delivery might be offensive to some people. You just have to be careful and not everyone will appreciate an unsolicited remark or advice. Better play it by ear or do it in private with good intentions. I had been in that situation too and it felt awkward I was to be blame because I should have practiced more restraint.
  17. If there is an option for me to listen to it like a podcast or audio files then that would be better because it does not require my eyes that would eventually get strained. I can also do other things while I listen to it. Before I love reading online but it is consuming so much of my time. It should be something convenient and easy to accomplish. I do not read paperbooks anymore maybe super seldom nowadays
  18. If you have a good reliable grammar book or online resource I guess that is better than nothing at all. It is a challenge doing it randomly but for me having some bits and pieces of lessons each time is fine I will just try to put everything I learn together and apply them. There is no perfect time except for NOW
  19. Thank you so much for your comment I think that your language is interesting to learn. And yes I noticed those accented letters that you have posted. I wonder if it would be difficult to look for a keyboard that is intended for this language.
  20. I noticed the use of Yo and Jo on some of the greetings. I am wondering if the language is somewhat similar to French and Spanish. Do you require a different keyboard version to type in Hungarian as I see some characters above?
  21. People from my country the Philippines also have this southernism what not. People from the South tend to talk slow and sweet even if they mean to hurt you funny is it not. Although not all of them do I am just referring to a few regions in the South.
  22. Every app is designed with a different purpose. Maybe Memrise fell short of your expectations. I would not mind downloading it on my phone just so I have something productive to do like memorizing some basic foreign terms while on a travel or before I go to sleep.
  23. When you talk about culture you talk about how things are done in here sort of thinking. Now if you apply that to a language, it would surely start some confusions if you do not know anything about the culture of the language in question. There are certain things that could only be understood if you are a part or at least understand how a certain culture works. I find it funny reading about poorly translated texts because the translator is doing it base on the books and had totally ignored about the culture
  24. It may help condition my mind to learn a new language by acclimating myself to it. I would not focus on it though as I tend to rely on the basic lessons first and do some sort of other interventions to help in the learning process.
  25. Hi Fame is this a complete lesson? I quickly browsed the youtube channel and it made me wonder if you got a complete set of lessons. Is this just like the other free sites that only offers a few basic lessons and need to upgrade if you want the whole course. Will you be coming up with other languages in the future? This will be of great help to those who want to learn free.
