What is a word search maker?

A word search maker turns your own list of words into a printable word search puzzle. You type the words, choose how the puzzle should look, and the tool hides them in a grid of random letters and adds an answer key — perfect for teachers, parents, parties, and classrooms.

How to make a word search

  1. Give your puzzle a title.
  2. Type your words, one per line.
  3. Pick a difficulty and grid size.
  4. Tap Generate for a new layout, then Print / PDF.

Difficulty levels

Easy hides words only across and down, which suits young children. Medium adds diagonal words, and Hard also lets words run backwards, making the puzzle much trickier for older kids and adults. Turn on Show answers any time to reveal where every word is hidden.

Print or save as a PDF

The Print / PDF button opens a clean, ad-free worksheet with your puzzle on one page and the answer key on the next. From the print dialog you can send it to a printer or choose “Save as PDF” to keep or email it. Everything is generated in your browser, so it works offline and your word list is never uploaded.

How do I make my own word search?
Type your words (one per line) into the box, choose a difficulty and grid size, and the puzzle is built instantly from your list. Tap Print / PDF to get a clean printable puzzle plus an answer key.
Is there a limit on the number of words?
You can add up to 40 words, each 2 to 20 letters. If a word does not fit the grid you chose, the tool tells you so you can pick a larger grid or shorter words.
What do the difficulty levels do?
Easy places words across and down only, Medium adds diagonals, and Hard also allows backwards words — so you can match the puzzle to the age or skill of the solver.
Can I print it or save a PDF?
