  2. I never knew fruit basket before, 2 yrs ago I call my cousin, I ask her what she wants me to buy for her. She told me that I can buy her that since her savings is not yet enough. I bought it then gave her. I read some of it when I was in their house.
  3. I agree with this, sometimes people write the short version because they are not really sure about the spelling, there are times that they are to lazy to write the word, especially if the words are long. But then there are also some cases wherein without realizing, they are writing the short version because they are used to it. Even if they really know the right spelling of the word.
  4. These tips are really helpful. Learning can be frustrating at times. I guess patience is really a virtue. Although I know that sometimes it's easier said than done. I just noticed that sometimes the subtiles or the translations are different from what it really means.
  5. I can't really tell what you really need to take. You know what my brother and I are in the same field of work but his course required him to take the TOEFL and TSE, The TSE is stands for Test of Spoken English. It's a separate exam for speaking only. TOEFL in paper based is just for writing, listening and reading. So you also need to take the TSE. To complete the four categories. While I'm required to do the IElTS. Actually I can also take the toefl and tse, but for me, IELTS is easier. One exam, with combination of all the categories. While in my course I can take any of the exam. His course can't do that. Anyway to cut it short it all depends of your course. But I guess it is safe if you will take the Toefl and tse.

  7. When I was in my primary years, I love reading fairy tales book. The words used were very simple. The story is very short. As a young girl, I assumed many of us love that kind of story. Then during my high school days my english teacher encouraged us to read books, every friday I will rent a book in our school library so I can read it during weekend. I remember reading The Hardy boys books and Nancy Drew books. At present I love reading John Grisham Books like, A time to kill, The firm, The client and many others.
  8. The only thing I know is to read aloud again and again. Keep practicing until your tongue get used to it. I also face in front of the mirror when I'm doing that, so I can see my facial reactions. Sometimes, I'm also using a recorder. I record what I read then play it afterwards so I can check if there is something wrong with my pronunciation or if my reading is improving.
  9. I'm using lit most of the time. Lighted seems odd to use. I'm not use with the sound. Actually, I didn't know that it's also correct to use lighted. Thanks for this info.
  10. Me, my friend and her boyfriend are having dinner. Her BF is american. My friend is telling us something about her childhood friend and her friend is a GUY. Sometimes she will use HE, sometimes she will use SHE in pertaining to her friend. Then her BF ask her " Babe is your friend really a HE or SHE, it's confusing. Then my friend got embarrassed and realized her mistake. We just laugh after.

  16. English and my native language are using the same alphabet. There are words that can be pronounced similarly with same meaning but different in spelling. There are also some words in english that don't have a translation in our langauge so we use the english version. I guess, I can't really say it's different but not I can't hardly say similar too.
  17. If I'm chatting or texting using my native language, there are times that I use the short version, for the reason that a simple word in english can have a 2-3 words translation in our language. If I'm texting or chatting in english I always use the full text of words.
  18. Few years ago, before I take an english exam, I attended an english class for speaking. It's a one on one class for two weeks. He will teach me with the right pronunciation, diction, it easy to say it but if you don't have somebody to correct you or teach you then it will still be the same. I helps me, it makes me more confident. Practicing or using the language everyday is also helpful, your tongue will get used to it.
  19. I think it depends on what applications or game you will use. For the kids it's better to download games that can be useful for them. 22. Before I had my english exam, I used to think. I even talk to myself. I'm thinking of possible questions then I will answer it in my thought. It's easier to do it in my mind than to speak it. In my mind the pronunciation, diction and grammar are always correct, but once your speaking you can feel and see that it's not the same.
