  1. I see. Good luck on your study! Maybe we can write in Chinese someday, how does it sound to you? Chinese is a difficult language to learn, which I still have to keep learning it although I am able to speak, write, and read.
  2. Capitalization would consider a professional kind of writing because it looks better if some words capitalize in order to avoid confusion. I believe it also gives the readers that it's properly use because it's better for people to distinguish there's a difference between each sentence.
  3. " I Did receive " is the correct grammar to use because there should not be a past tense after the to be is a past tense. For instance, "Did received" won't make sense because there are two forms of past tenses, which the second past tense need to eliminate.
  4. I do sometimes because I speak both English and Chinese throughout the day, which I would use them interchangeably. I tend to think more in my second language, which is English more often the Chinese because I sometimes help my parents to translate from Chinese to English. My mind would always think about English and Chinese at the same time because I am taught to be able to use both languages interchangeably.
  5. I used to be one of those people who are unmotivated to read because I didn't really like reading at all. It depends on your own interest though, which I would suggest that find the topics or subjects that interest you. I think the only way to do that is try to go to a news or article website, then read something that interests you. It's the only way to actually get you into reading.
  6. I only speak English and Chinese, which English is my second language. I don't feel like a different person when I speak English, which I think the reason for that is I get used to speak both languages interchangeably throughout the day. I think the only think I feel like a different person is that I tend to speak louder when I speak Chinese.
  7. No, I haven't heard any of this. I don't normally use any foreign language app except there's one I use that's similar to Twitter, which I often find any updates of my favorites artists and actors, as well as my friends and my wife. That's about it, but then again I don't normally download a lot of apps on my smartphone either.
  8. I usually write down the words, then find the meaning of it. I write the words repeatly at least 8 to 10 times until I'm able to learn and memorize them. I usually write a pronunciation next to the word, which helps me to learn how to say the word.
  9. I prefer simple writing because I want people to understand me more effective and efficient. I hardly use any technical or professional writing because I tend to think deeper about those writings. I like simple and be able for people to easier understand what I try to write. I have known an author who only use simple writing because of that.
  10. I usually read a book in a new language to find new vocabulary words that I consider they're useful. I often read from the textbook, which will teach me how to learn the basics of the language. Plus, I can watch movies in that language to strengthen my skills.
  11. 我没有听过指鹿为马, 原来是指骗人的意思啊。 It is good to know since I don't often use 成语。
  12. How's the Mandarin learning experience? I am glad I have learned it when I was very little. Welcome to the forum! Hope you like it here as much as I do. Enjoy your stay.
  13. I think games are helpful if you want to learn some vocabulary words, that's what I see unless the games can't each you to learn the language. I often learn new words from some of the games I play, which only help me to some extent. I still consider learning through gaming is just a fun way to learn the language.
  14. I don't think people who speak more than one languages or multilingual would consider intelligent or smart. It is what I called talented, but it has nothing to do with being smart because those are two different things. I think it is what people are able to learn the languages and able to use them effectively. They probably have smart ways to learn the languages, but doesn't mean they consider intelligent.
  15. This has happened to people whose English isn't their native language, which I think most of them carry some sort of accent. I think it is ok to have accent and there's no other ways you can do about it. I have accent too, but as long as people understand you, that's all it matters.
  16. Welcome to the forum! Hope you like it here as much as I do. Cheers!
  17. Welcome to the forum! I learned Japanese when I was in high school. I didn't continue because it was hard to learn. Hope you like it here as much as I do. Enjoy your stay.
  18. 是啊, 在美国很少人用微博。应该是没有英文version吧。
  19. 我也很少发微博的, 大多数我会转发我老婆写的东西。
  20. Wow. That's different! Have you gotten trouble by using curse words to people who speak the language in which you're learning?
  21. I remember when I came to the United States, I didn't speak English very well although I have learned English in my home country. When I was in middle school, there was one kid who would make fun of me in his language, English. Then, when other kids heard that, they joined him to make fun of me, which I thought they were so disrespectful and were very impolite. They haven't learned the lesson about a kid who suffered through hard times because he came to a new place and went to school in which he didn't make any friends.
  22. I would say I use my second language, which is English, more than my native language. I live in the United States, English is the primary language that I would speak to people. My native language, Chinese, for instance, that I only use it with my parents and my wife because I feel comfortable speaking Chinese with them both at work and at home. I only use English when I speak with people who would speak English.
  23. Welcome to the forum! French is a fun language to learn. I learned French when I was in high school. It is nice to meet you!
  24. It depends on the language the person is speaking. I think it is awesome that some people speak different languages other than English, but what frustrates me is that sometimes they speak the language in front of people who don't understand the language. Some people have such a manner of showing off their other languages or ssomething, which I think it becomes an issue.
