  1. I like this quote. I think it is true that it does apply to most people. However, I would do things that I think it is right even though people hate what I have done.
  2. 微博 (Weibo) 是中国的 micro blog, 就好像 Twitter. 你可以在微博关注明星, 朋友, 等等。你们有用过微博吗?
  3. I learned these terms when I was in middle school. I was able to distinguish their meanings and how to use them in a sentence. For instance, I use "their" when it is being used to describe something that's belonged to. "There", is use when I describe a direction. "They're" I use for the third person, which is often used to describe something.
  4. I have not heard of Itools, which it might be a good website because it offers language translation. I didn't know it is offered by Google. I will check it out to see if it is similar to Google Translate, which I like to use it.
  5. That's the beauty of English. Short sentences can be used to express your creativity and does help to avoid more errors. But as a writer and editor myself, short sentences isn't always acceptable because I am taught to avoid short sentences unless in a conversation with some people or something.
  6. Yes, I agree with you guys. I am a Editor, who proofreads ppeople's writings. You will be surprised to hear that native languages do have poor writing, especially poor sentence structures, grammar errors, and misuse of tenses. It does frustrate me because I have studied so hard to learn all those things
  7. I would think taking classes is the best way to go because you will learn all the basis of the languages. I would not think people would go to foreign countries to learn when they are learning 3 to 4 languages. I think it is impossible to do so because no one really wants to spend time in a foreign country just to learn the language.
  8. Traditional Chinese isn't hard once you've learned the basis of it. It gets easier when you have learned the strokes and Pingyin. It can be hard at first, then it will get easier the more you practice.
  9. It depends, but yes I do. When I first learned English, I would watch movies or TV shows that were in English language with Chinese subtitles.
  10. Yes, that is what I have heard too. People can learn Japanese from anime or cartoon shows. I don't know how they can do that, but at least I cannot because I usually learn the language through reading books.
  11. Also, 'were' used in 'you' too. Great post here. I learned them at pre-school too.
  12. Which language do you find difficult to learn, Spanish or French?
  13. English is my second language, which I write in English everyday. I hardly write in my own language because I live in the United States, which my native language is basically not very useful in writing unless I write letters to my wife, which I would write in my native language.
  14. I learned Japanese when I was in high school. I think it's useless because I won't go to Japan or make friends who are Japanese. Moreover, I can't seem to find the people who speak Japanese so I can practice the language. I think learning Japanese was waste of time for me because I don't really need it.
  15. I like reading and writing. When I start a new book, I often read the first few pages to see whether or not I should continue to read it. I often find books that I will read from the beginning to the end because they have great storylines. I will keep reading if the story is good, regardless if it's written by my favorite authors. Writing, for instance, I try to finish once I have started because this is how I develop my story.
  16. I wouldn't say it's an insult because the language in which the person speaks isn't their native language. He or she emphasizes too much because that's how he or she learns the language sometimes. I don't think it can cause any harm for those who have accents when they speak the language in which it's not their native language.
  17. Same here. I sometimes have trouble spell the word "embarrassing", which I always forget there are two 'r's instead of one. Good post.
  18. I would think the reason some people use bad words are trying to be cool or when they are mad, whom they would want to show their anger in front of people. I think as long as you don't use them too much and too often because people use bad words all the time, which I have gotten over it a long time ago.
  19. I haven't heard of the series before. When did it publish? Who's wrote the series? I would like to check it out because it sounds like a good series to refresh my Chinese language.
  20. I don't think simply by asking direct questions would consider rude because there are people who would prefer direct questions rather than indirect. For me, I sometimes like direct questions because I want straight to the point rather than bending into few directions to reach for that question. It depends on how people decipher the meaning of the question, which I think it's possible but not always rude by asking direct questions.
  21. Welcome to this forum! I really enjoy hanging out here because I have learned new things here. I hope you like it as much as I do. It's nice to meet you!
  22. Yes. I remember when I was in middle school, my English teacher was Vietnamese. She was the first teacher who taught me how to speak, read, and write English better. She has helped me to improve my skills in writing, reading, and communication. She was the only teacher I couldn't forget because that was one of the reasons I like English. Without her, I wasn't able to speak English well enough to be able to communicate with other people.
  23. Welcome to the forum! Enjoy your stay.
  24. The longest word I have used besides medical terms would be metamorphosis. I always have a hard time pronouncing the word and spell it correctly. I don't seem to be able to remember it, although I have repeated it more than I need.
