  8. We have a lot of those sayings here on the island too. I guess every region has their own. Most would be in our native language so one close to English would be to say someone is thief like Miss Mary's pus, meaning that the person is a professional thief.
  9. Two familiar idioms I recall are: Get the show on the road- to begin an activity that has been planned. Drive a hard bargain- expecting a lot for what you pay or do.

  17. I don't think we should go ahead and blame English Language for the words that seem to have a wrong spelling. After all, the root of the word, whether it be British, American, Latin, etc. causes the spelling of these words to be different.
  18. Homophones can be a bit tricky when you are a child. However, reading a lot makes it easier to get acquainted with each homophone and identify them differently.
  19. I do prefer a classroom setting or at least some form of human contact whenever I am learning a subject. Other methods, like recent technology would certainly help but having a one to one discussion with no screen separating parties is priceless to me.
  20. Although I am a fluent English speaker I sometimes doubt myself of the possibilities I could accomplish in wrting. I think that doing a creative writing course would be a good way to increase my potential and also give me the confidence I need to trust myself whenever I write.
  21. I've never tried one of these stories before now. At first I didn't really understand what was meant by choosing your own adventure. It is a fun way to pass the time and even get a little creative too.
  22. From what I have heard, the younger the individual is, the better it is for them to learn a new language. You'd be surprised to know that small children won't get confused from learning multiple languages. They are very much able to differentiate each language and have full grasp of each. I think you should go ahead and communicate with her in all the languages and I guess she'll thank you later.
  23. Actually I am not on a regimen now. I do what I can when I can and I like watching movies in the language that I am learning. When my daughter is at home she tries to get me on one but I am never able to stay on track because of my schedule.
